Edmund Reyes (born August 24, 1971) is a former Filipino basketball player.

Playing career

Reyes played for UST Growling Tigers under coach Aric del Rosario, and notably played with Udoy Belmonte, Patrick Fran, Rey Evangelista, Dennis Espino, Aric's son Lester, and Siot Tanquingcen. [1]

In 1992, his first year, he saw his team losing to FEU Tamaraws due to interruption by a power outage, but due to UAAP Board's decision to reschedule the last 3 minutes of the game, UST ended up losing, 76–87. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

The team later won the 1993 championship by sweeping all of their opponents, and got a mythical second team. [8] [1] He won another championship with the team in 1994, on his final year.

In the 1995 draft, he was selected by Purefoods, and stayed for the team until 1999, but the Purefoods let him go to the 2000 expansion draft. [9] He was signed by Red Bull Barako from 2000 until 2004. [9]

Rey Evangelista is a Filipino retired professional basketball player who played for Purefoods franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association during his entire career. He was a one-time Best Player of the Conference awardee in 2002. He was known as a great defensive player and a left-handed shooter. He is now a politician who serving as a city councilor for Ormoc City.

Alfredo Lorenzo Mendoza Jarencio is a Filipino basketball coach and former professional basketball player. He is the head coach for the UST Growling Tigers of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). He also acts as the team manager for the NorthPort Batang Pier of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

The UST Growling Tigers basketball is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of the University of Santo Tomas. The school has won 19 basketball titles including one in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). They are one of the winningest teams in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) with 18 championships, the last coming in 2006 during Pido Jarencio's rookie year of coaching. Jarencio returned as the team's head coach after ten years since resigning in 2013. He formally replaced Bal David on February 3, 2023.

The FEU Tamaraws men's basketball is a collegiate basketball varsity team of the Far Eastern University. FEU currently holds the record of winning the most number of championships in the men's basketball division of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. FEU also appeared in the Philippine Collegiate Championship finals four times, and was able to win back to back championships in 2004 and 2005. The team originally played in the NCAA from 1929 to 1936 and was one of its founding members.
