Education in Warsaw

Warsaw is one of the most important education centres of Poland. It is home to four major universities and over 62 smaller schools of higher education. The overall number of students of all grades of education in Warsaw is almost 500,000 (29.2% of the city population; 2002). The number of university students is over 255,000.

The University of Warsaw (Uniwersytet Warszawski, 55,000 students, 19 faculties) was established in 1816, when the partitions of Poland separated Warsaw from the oldest and most influential Polish academic center, in Kraków. [1] Warsaw University of Technology (Politechnika Warszawska, 31,000 students, 18 faculties) is the second academic school of technology in the country, and one of the largest in Central Europe, employing 2,000 professors. It was established in 1898 as the Nicolas II's Technical Institute, in 1915 changed the name at the present one. [2] Other institutions for higher education:

The Copernicus Science Centre, a science museum, is located on the bank of the Vistula River in Warsaw. [6] It contains over 450 interactive exhibits that enable visitors to single-handedly carry out experiments and discover the laws of science for themselves. The Centre is the largest institution of its type in Poland and one of the most advanced in Europe.

Academy of Economics in Białystok

<i>Nowy Kurier Warszawski</i>

Nowy Kurier Warszawski, initially Nowy Kurjer Warszawski was a German propaganda newspaper issued in the occupied Poland during World War II. Its name was coined after a popular pre-war newspaper Kurier Warszawski, with which it had nothing to do but the name. According to German sources the newspaper was issued in 200 000 copies daily, but it was commonly boycotted by the Poles and the numbers seem to be much overestimated.

Łódź is home to three major state-owned universities and a number of smaller schools of higher education. The biggest is the University of Łódź and for the last four years the best students in Łódź have been studying there - in 2009 the regional laureate was Piotr Pawlikowski, in 2010 - Joanna Dziuba, in 2011 and 2012 - Paweł Rogaliński.

National Defence University of Warsaw

The National Defence University of Warsaw was the civil-military highest defence academic institution in Poland, located in Warszawa-Rembertów. In 2016 it was succeeded by the War Studies University.

Kraków University of Economics

Krakow University of Economics is one of the five Polish public economics universities. CUE came into existence in 1925. It is the biggest university of economic sciences in Poland. Kraków University of Economics is one of the three largest universities in Kraków, after Jagiellonian University and the AGH University of Science and Technology. The motto and mission of the university in Latin is "Rerum cognoscere causas et valorem" Its 17-acre (69,000 m2) campus is in the vicinity of historical medieval Old Town of Kraków and easily accessible both on foot or by public transportation. In addition to the main campus in Kraków, the university has seven Remote Teaching Centers in the cities of the region.

The Wroclaw University of Economics and Business(Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny we Wrocławiu) is one of ten public universities located in Wrocław, Poland. Originally established in 1947 as a private business school, it was nationalized in 1954 under the name Wyższa Szkoła Ekonomiczna. In October 1974 it was named after the Polish economist Oskar Lange, although his name does not occur in the official English name of the university. Changing the name to the Wrocław University of Economics (Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny we Wrocławiu) in 2008 removed Oskar Lange from the name of the University.

Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts

The Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, is a public institution of higher education located in the centre of Kraków, Poland. It is the oldest Polish fine art academy, established in 1818 and granted full autonomy in 1873.

University of Warsaw University in Warsaw, Poland

The University of Warsaw, established in 1816, is the largest university in Poland. It employs over 6,000 staff including over 3,100 academic educators. It provides graduate courses for 53,000 students. The university offers some 37 different fields of study, 18 faculties and over 100 specializations in Humanities, technical as well as Natural Sciences.

AST National Academy of Theatre Arts in Kraków

AST National Academy of Theatre Arts, is a drama school based in Kraków and Wrocław, Poland. It was founded in 1946 by actor Juliusz Osterwa, who took the initial steps leading to the establishment of the Academy through the amalgamation of three local studios; Stary Teatr, the Słowacki Theatre, and Iwo Gall's Dramatic Studio.

Białystok, Poland, is home to one principal public university and two other public specialist universities. Some institutions, such as Musical Academy in Bialystok, are branches of their parent institutions in other cities, usually in Warsaw. Since the fall of communism many private-funded institutions of higher educations were founded and their number is still increasing.

Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan

Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan Poznań is one of the major fine-art academies in Poland. It was founded in 1919 as the State School of Decorative Arts.

Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu – National-Louis University (WSB-NLU) — non-public university, one of the first non-public higher education schools in Poland. It offers first and second degree studies in: Computer Science, Management,Psychology, as well as post-graduate studies, including MBA programs. WSB-NLU was the first university in Poland to offer an American diploma of Bachelor of Arts in addition to the Polish diploma and the first to offer its students a virtual dean's office and an electronic student record book.

Siedlce University of Natural Sciences and Humanities

The Siedlce University of Natural Sciences and Humanities is a higher-education institution in Siedlce, Poland. It was created on October 1, 2010 by the decision of Sejm signed by the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski. The previous name of the university was 'Akademia Podlaska w Siedlcach', in English known officially as University of Podlasie.

Mateusz Grzesiak is a Polish consultant, therapist and lecturer, Ph.D. in economics, and social sciences. Author of various books on management, marketing, psychology of success, change, relationships, and emotional intelligence. Author of Mixed Mental Arts - an integrated model of soft skills. Grzesiak significantly contributed to the creation and then popularisation of the personal development market in Poland.

WSB Universities also WSB University are group of state-recognized private (non-public) universities in Poland. WSB Universities are the largest group of business schools in Poland and have been conducting educational activities in ten Polish cities. In 2013 - 82% and in 2014, 85% of students of WSB Universities were studying and at the same time working, gaining work experience and professional competence.
