Edward Vosburgh (November 18, 1864 – September 24, 1930) was an American businessman and politician from New York.
Vosburgh was born on November 18, 1864, in Johnstown, New York, the son of Henry J. Vosburgh and Charlotte Putnam. [1]
In 1885, Vosburgh moved to Vail Mills, where he opened a general store with David B. Hall. He bought Hall's interest a year later and continued running the store. He later sold it to C. D. Stewart of Gloversville, at which point he moved with his family to Broadalbin. He served as Vail Mills postmaster from 1886 to 1909, with an interruption from 1896 to 1900 when a Democratic administration appointed someone else instead. [2] He was also a member of the Trust Company of Fulton County for many years. [2]
Vosburgh was town supervisor for Mayfield from 1898 to 1900. In 1909, Vosburgh was elected to the New York State Assembly as a Republican, representing Fulton and Hamilton Counties. He served in the Assembly in 1910. [3] During World War I, Governor Charles Seymour Whitman appointed him a member of the local exemption board for the second district of Fulton County. [1]
In 1886, Vosburgh married Jennie Atty. Their son, Ralph E., helped his father manage the store and became postmaster of Vail Mills. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. He was a Freemason. [1]
Vosburgh died in Amsterdam City Hospital on September 24, 1930. [2] He was buried in Broadalbin cemetery. [4]

The city was named after its founder, Sir William Johnson, Superintendent of Indian Affairs in the Province of New York and a major general during the Seven Years' War in North America. It is located approximately 45 miles (72 km) northwest of Albany, about one-third of the way between Albany and the Finger Lakes region to the west, in the Mohawk Valley region, within the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.

New York State Route 29 (NY 29) is a state highway extending for 94.79 miles (152.55 km) across the eastern portion of the U.S. state of New York. The western terminus of the route is at NY 28 and NY 169 in Middleville, Herkimer County. The eastern terminus of the route is at NY 22 just south of Salem, Washington County. NY 29 also serves the cities of Johnstown and Saratoga Springs and intersects four major north–south roadways: NY 10, NY 30, U.S. Route 9, and U.S. Route 4.
New York State Route 29A (NY 29A) is a state highway in the western portion of the Capital District of New York in the United States. The western terminus of the route is at an intersection with NY 29 in the Herkimer County hamlet of Salisbury Center. Its eastern end is at another junction with NY 29 about 36 miles (58 km) to the east near the Fulton County hamlet of Vail Mills. NY 29A enters Gloversville via Rose Street and continues through downtown on Fulton Street.
New York State Route 30A (NY 30A) is a 34.86-mile-long (56.10 km) state highway in the Capital District of New York in the United States. It serves as a westerly alternate route of NY 30 from near the Schoharie County village of Schoharie to the Fulton County hamlet of Riceville, 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the village of Mayfield. While NY 30 heads generally north–south between the two locations and passes through Amsterdam, NY 30A veers west to serve the villages of Fonda and Fultonville and the cities of Johnstown and Gloversville. Along the way, it connects to several major east–west highways, including U.S. Route 20 (US 20) in Esperance and the New York State Thruway in Fultonville.
New York State Route 349 (NY 349) is an east–west state highway in Fulton County, New York, in the United States. The highway extends for 3.58 miles (5.76 km) across largely rural terrain from an intersection with NY 30A in the town of Johnstown to a junction with NY 30 in the town of Mayfield. The westernmost section of the route is known as East State Street Extension. NY 349 was assigned c. 1931 to the portion of its alignment between County Route 154 and NY 30. It was extended west to its present terminus in the mid-1950s after NY 148 was rerouted onto an arterial highway between Gloversville and Mayfield.
The Fonda, Johnstown and Gloversville Railroad (FJ&G) was formerly a 132-mile (212 km) interurban railroad that connected its namesake towns in east central New York State to Schenectady, New York. From the 1870s to the early 1980s, the FJ&G held a successful and profitable transportation business, hauling workers, salesmen, and executives of the very large number of glove manufacturing companies in the area to the New York Central (NYC) station at Schenectady. From there, they would board trains to travel south to New York City or west to Chicago, Illinois.
