Egypt competed at the 1992 Summer Paralympics in Barcelona, Spain. The 41 member team competed in athletics, powerlifting and shooting. They won 20 medals including 7 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze, finishing 19th on the medal table. Members of the team included athletics competitors Ahmed Mohamed, Said Afifi, Aymen Ibrahim, Hany Mohamed, Mohamed Abdulla Mohamed and Mohamed Said, and shooter Sherif Abd Alla.

Ahmed Mohamed represented Egypt in the Men's Discus THS2, finishing fourth in the 22 deep field. His best throw was 37.92m, short of the 38.96 m distance thrown by Paralympic bronze medalist Roberto Simonazzi of Germany. [3] He then won gold in the Men's Javelin THS2 event, with a Paralympic Record throw of 48.30m. [3]
Aymen Ibrahim competed in the seven competitor deep Men's Discus THS4 event. He finished fifth with a throw of 38.10m, narrowly losing out on bronze. That was won by the Czech Republic's Dusan Leipert, who had a throw of 38.48m. [3] Competing in the seven deep Men's Javelin THS4 event, he finished fifth with a throw of 32.48m, way off medal winning distance. [3]
Hany Mohamed was another of Egypt's gold medalist in Barcelona. In the Men's Discus THW7 event, he set a world record of 34.64m. Fellow Egyptian Mohamed Abdulla Mohamed finished with a silver in the event with a throw of 34.36m. A third Egyptian in the event, Mohamed Said, finished fourteenth with a distance of 25.18m. [3] Hany Mohamed then claimed a second gold in the Men's Shot Put THW7 event, with a world record throw of 10.61m. Mohamed Abdulla Mohamed finished sixth in the event, with a best throw of 8.95m. Mohamed Said finished ninth on a best throw of 8.44m. [3]
Mohamed Said also competed in the Men's Javelin THW7 event. His distance of 37.58m was good enough to claim silver, and a meter and a half short of the world record gold medal winning throw by Kuwait's Aly Mohamed. Hany Mohamed finished fifth in that event, with a best throw of 33.14m. Mohamed Abdulla Mohamed finished twenty-third and last with a best throw of 16.58m. [3]
Said Afifi competed in the Men's Discus THS3 event. His throw of 42.50m won him a silver medal. [3]
Egypt first competed in powerlifting at the Paralympic Games in Barcelona. [6] They won 1 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals in the sport in Barcelona. [7]
Ahmed Gomaa Mohamed Ahmed made his Paralympic debut at the 1992 Games. He claimed gold and set a world record in Barcelona in the men's -52 kg class. He would go on to duplicate both fetes at the 1996 and 2000 Games in the men's -56 kg class. Mohamed Ahmed took up the sport in 1984, and decided to compete internationally because he was able to lift more than his able-bodied counterparts in Egypt. [5]
Sherif Abd Alla competed in the Men's Air Pistol SH2 event, finishing eighteenth in the preliminary round with 527 points. He did not make the final. [3]
Egypt sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China. The 38 member strong team won 12 medals, 4 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze. Sports Egypt participated in included athletics, powerlifting and table tennis Among Egypt's representatives included Fatma Omar and Sherif Othman in powerlifting, Mohammed Beshta, Mahmoud El-Attar, Hossam Abdel Kader and Mohammed El-Sayed Abdel Kader in athletics and Fayza Hafez in table tennis.
Egypt sent a delegation to compete at the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney, Australia. Egyptian athletes won six gold medals, twelve silver and ten bronze, enabling their country to finish 23rd out of 123 on the medal table. Athletics and powerlifting were equally successful, with each sport giving 3 gold medals each to Egypt.

The United Arab Emirates started actively participating in the Paralympic community during the 1990s. They made their debut at the 1992 Summer Paralympics. Since that time, they have won several Paralympic medals. The country had their debut on the international Paralympic stage at the 1990 Stoke Mandeville Games. Some of the country's Paralympic competitors are internationally ranked. The United Arab Emirates have competed at several other Paralympic events including the Arab Paralympic Games, Asian Paralympic Games, IWAS World Games, Stoke Mandeville Games, and World Semi-Olympic Championship. The United Arab Emirates Paralympic Committee is the national organisation, gaining its International Paralympic Committee recognition in 1995 and have subsequently made winning medals and hosting events a priority.
Tunisia made its Paralympic Games debut at the 1988 Summer Paralympics in Seoul. It was represented by a single athlete, Monaam Elabed, who won two bronze medals in athletics. The country has competed in every subsequent edition of the Summer Paralympics, although it has never taken part in the Winter Paralympics. Tunisian competitors have only ever taken part in athletics events, with the sole exception of Dalila Tabai who competed in powerlifting in 2000.
Bahrain made its Paralympic Games début the same year as its Olympic début, at the 1984 Summer Paralympics in Stoke Mandeville and New York City, sending a delegation to compete in athletics. The country has participated in every subsequent edition of the Summer Paralympics, but has never taken part in the Winter Paralympics.

Algeria competed at the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney, Australia. It was the country's third participation in the Summer Paralympic Games. Its delegation consisted in six track and field athletes and two competitors in powerlifting. Sprinter Mohamed Allek, who has cerebral palsy, won all of Algeria's medals at these Games - three gold.

Australia competed in 13 sports and won medals in 3 sports – swimming, athletics and weightlifting. Australia finished first in the medal tally at the 1992 Paralympic Games for Persons with Mental Handicap in Madrid.
John Harris is a former Paralympic athlete from Wales competing mainly in category 5 throwing events. In 1984 he became the world record holder in the discus winning gold at the Summer Paralympics, following this with silver in the discus and bronze in the Pentathlon four years later.
Egypt competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7 to 18 September 2016. The country sent a delegation of 44 sportspeople. The team included 16-year-old Ayattalah Ayman, the youngest member of the delegation and the first woman to represent Egypt in swimming. It also included 41-year-old Ibrahim Al Husseini Hamadtou, the only table tennis player to compete while holding the paddle in his mouth.
Kenya competed at the 1992 Summer Paralympics in Barcelona, Spain. 15 competitors from Kenya won 2 medals, 1 gold and 1 bronze to finish 41st in the medal table. 13-year-old Mary Nakhumica made her Paralympic debut, winning Kenya's only gold in the women's javelin throw THW7 event.
India competed at the 1992 Summer Paralympics in Barcelona from 3 to 14 September 1992. The nation made its official debut at the 1968 Summer Paralympics and has appeared in every edition of the Summer Paralympics since 1984. This was India's fifth appearance at the Summer Paralympics. India sent a contingent consisting of nine athletes for the Games and did not win any medal.
Sundar Singh Gurjar an Indian Paralympic athlete from Rajasthan. He competes in javelin throw, shot put and discus throw in F46 category events. He won bronze medal at Tokyo 2020 Paralympics in men's javelin F46 event. He qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics at Paris.
Egypt competed at the 2019 African Games held from 19 to 31 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco. In total, 297 athletes were expected to represent Egypt at the games. This later increased to 330 athletes. Athletes representing the country won 102 gold medals, 98 silver medals and 73 bronze medals and the country finished 1st in the medal table.
Hany Abdelhady is an Egyptian Paralympic powerlifter. He won the gold medal in the men's 90 kg event at the 2012 Summer Paralympics held in London, United Kingdom. He also won the gold medal in his event at the 2010 IPC Powerlifting World Championships held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
