Eleventh Avenue is Ammonia's second studio album. It was released in Australia in May, 1998.
Ammonia were an Australian indie guitar rock band formed in Perth in 1992 as Fuzzswirl. Founding members are Allan Balmont on drums, Dave Johnstone on guitar and lead vocals, and Phil Natt on bass guitar. Natt left and was eventually replaced by Simon Hensworth on bass guitar in 1993 and they changed their name to Ammonia. They released two studio albums, Mint 400 and Eleventh Avenue, which both reached the ARIA Albums Chart Top 20. Their debut single, "Drugs", peaked in the ARIA Singles Chart Top 40. The group disbanded in January 1999 following a two-month farewell tour of Australia.

It was a very different album to their previous effort, Mint 400, moving away from grunge-inspired guitar rock to include harmonies, samples and psychedelic keyboards.
Mint 400 is Ammonia's debut studio album. It was released in Australia in October 1995. The album takes its title from an auto race described in Hunter S. Thompson's book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Grunge is a rock music genre and subculture that emerged during the mid-1980s in the Pacific Northwest U.S. state of Washington, particularly in Seattle and nearby towns. The early grunge movement revolved around Seattle's independent record label Sub Pop and the region's underground music scene. The owners of Sub Pop marketed Northwestern punk rock shrewdly and the media was encouraged to describe it as "grunge", which came to mean a punk and metal hybrid style of music. By the early 1990s its popularity had spread, with grunge bands appearing in California, then emerging in other parts of the United States and in Australia, building strong followings and signing major record deals.
The album was recorded and produced by Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev), a choice made by the band in part due to the lack of control the band had over the first album. Two songs ("You're Not the Only One..." and "Monochrome") received extensive airplay on Triple J; however, the album failed to chart as well as its predecessor, only reaching #20 on the National Album charts. [1] Eleventh Avenue turned out to be the band's last album. It went out of print in March 2002.
David Lawrence "Dave" Fridmann is an American record producer and musician. From 1990 onwards he co-produced most releases by Mercury Rev and The Flaming Lips. Other bands he has worked with include Weezer, Saxon Shore, Neon Indian, Wolf Gang, Ammonia, Ed Harcourt, Sparklehorse, Café Tacuba, Creaming Jesus, Elf Power, Mogwai, Thursday, Mass of the Fermenting Dregs, The Delgados, Low, Phantom Planet, Gemma Hayes, Goldrush, Tapes 'n Tapes, Hopewell, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Number Girl, Jed Davis, Zazen Boys, Sleater-Kinney and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. He has recently worked on new recordings with MGMT, Neil Finn, The Cribs, OK Go, Tame Impala, Lord Huron, Baroness, Spoon, and Interpol.
Mercury Rev is an American indie rock band formed in 1989 in Buffalo, New York. Original personnel were David Baker (vocals), Jonathan Donahue, Sean Mackowiak, known as "Grasshopper", Suzanne Thorpe (flute), Dave Fridmann (bass) and Jimy Chambers (drums).
Triple J is an Australian government-funded radio station. A subdivision of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, it primarily appeals to young listeners. The station specialises in alternative rock and indie pop music, with a greater emphasis on broadcasting Australian content compared to other commercial stations. Triple J has two sister stations: Triple J Unearthed is an emerging music discovery station, whilst Double J caters to older audiences.
