Elijah Thurmon (born August 2, 1978) is a former American Football wide receiver who played in the National Football League, and the Canadian Football League. He entered the NFL as a free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles. Thurmon played college football for Howard University, and was inducted into their hall of fame in 2016.

Early years

Thurmon attended Meade High School where he played football, basketball and track. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

At Howard University Thurmon earned NCAA Academic All American, the Howard University Excellence Award, and MEAC Academic Honors. He was also a recognized as a Unanimous All American as he broke Howard and MEAC total pass receiving yards and pass receptions records.[ citation needed ]

Professional career

National Football League

Considered one of the best wide receivers in the MEAC while at Howard University, [6] Thurmon was acquired as a free agent by the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles. The following season, he signed with the Oakland Raiders and in the 2003 season, [7] [8] [9] [10] the Chicago Bears signed him and allocated him to NFL Europe's Berlin Thunder where he started ten games as wide receiver, leading the team with 37 receptions for 412 yards and five touchdowns. Canadian Football League

After his years in the NFL, Thurmon joined the CFL Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2004 as a free agent [14] He had 88 receptions as slotback in 2005 for 1,048 yards and seven touchdowns, and was chosen as a West Division All-Star. [15] [16]

Thurmon became a free agent and signed with the Calgary Stampeders in 2006. [12] [15] [17]

The Montreal Alouettes signed Thurmon in 2007 and he was named their offence MVP for four of the season's 18 games. [14] [18] [19]

After professional football

Thurmon was inducted into the Howard University Hall of Fame in 2016. [20]

Nikolas Lewis is the receivers coach for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and he is a former professional Canadian football slotback who played for 15 years in the CFL. He is a two-time Grey Cup champion, winning in 2008 and 2014 with the Stampeders. In his first season, he won the CFL Rookie of the Year award, followed by five West Division All-Star and three CFL All-Star awards. He is second all-time as a Stampeder in receptions (805), receiving yards (11,250), and touchdown catches (65) behind Allen Pitts. He also has the club record for consecutive games with a reception, with 166. On August 24, 2017, Lewis became the CFL all-time leader in receptions with 1,030 catches.

Ken-Yon Cedric Rambo is a former professional American football wide receiver in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Calgary Stampeders and Toronto Argonauts. He also was a member of the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Ohio State University.

The 2009 CFL season was the 56th season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it was the 52nd season of the Canadian Football League. The Montreal Alouettes won the 97th Grey Cup on November 29 with a last second 28–27 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The 19-week regular schedule, issued February 3, 2009, began on July 1, which was only the second time in league history that a CFL season started on Canada Day, with the first occurring in 1998. The playoffs started on November 15 and two weeks of pre-season games began on June 17.

He is also a two-time CFL All-Star and an eight-time CFL East All-Star. He has also been a member of the New York Jets, Seattle Dragons, and Tampa Bay Vipers. Green played college football at South Florida.

The 2010 CFL season is the 57th season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it is the 53rd Canadian Football League season. Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton hosted the 98th Grey Cup on November 28 when the Montreal Alouettes became the first team to repeat as Grey Cup Champions in 13 years, defeating the Saskatchewan Roughriders, 21–18. The league announced on its Twitter page on January 29, 2010, that the season would start on July 1, 2010. As of 2024 this is the most recent CFL regular season to start in July.

Christopher Douglas Matthews is an American former professional wide receiver. Matthews was undrafted out of college in 2011, and signed with the Cleveland Browns. He then played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for two seasons, winning the CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie Award in his first season. Matthews then signed with the Seattle Seahawks where he recovered a critical onside kick during the 2014 NFC Championship Game, and caught four passes for 109 yards and a touchdown in Super Bowl XLIX. Matthews played college football for Los Angeles Harbor College and the University of Kentucky.
