Elkhorn Creek (McDonald County, Missouri)

Elkhorn Creek is a stream in McDonald County in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1] It is a tributary of Indian Creek. [2]

The stream headwaters arise at 36°42′27″N94°12′07″W / 36.70750°N 94.20194°W / 36.70750; -94.20194 just east of Missouri Route 76 south of Longview. It flows southwest past Bethpage and then west-northwest to its confluence with Indian Creek south of McNatt at 36°43′29″N94°19′19″W / 36.72472°N 94.32194°W / 36.72472; -94.32194 . [1] [2]

Some say Elkhorn Creek was named for elk in the area, while others believe the name is a transfer from a creek of the same name in Letcher County, Kentucky. [3]

The headwaters of Brushy Creek are within the Mark Twain National Forest at 37°43′29″N90°06′13″W and the stream flows northeast to its confluence with Saline Creek about 1.5 miles southwest of the community of Minnith at 37°46′36″N90°04′17″W at an elevation of 440 feet.

Hercules is an unincorporated community in Taney County, in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. Hercules is located on Missouri Route 125, south of Bradleyville and just northeast of the Hercules Glades Wilderness protected area. The townsite is adjacent to Brushy Creek and within the Mark Twain National Forest.

Keeney Creek or sometimes Keeney Branch is a stream in southwest Ray County of northwest Missouri. It is a tributary of the Fishing River.
