Alicia Angela Tromp-Yarzagaray,known as Ella Tromp-Yarzagaray,is an Aruban former politician of the People's Electoral Movement party. [1] She was the first woman to hold the positions of Minister of Finance and Minister Plenipotentiary in the country.
After graduating from Meer Uitgebreid Lager Onderwijs,comparable to junior high school,Ella obtained diplomas in bookkeeping,modern business administration,and introductory trade. [2] Initially,she worked in business,but moved into education in 1976. She first worked as an Economic,Tourism,and Administrative Education teacher,then as an Economics teacher,and finally as a Secondary Administrative Education teacher.
Ella Tromp's political career began in 1989. She worked as an employee in the cabinet of the Prime Minister. [2] On 9 March 1991 she was appointed Minister Plenipotentiary in the first cabinet of Nelson Oduber,a position which she held until 1 March 1993. She was the first woman in the history of the country to hold this position. She was also the first woman to be appointed as Minister of Finance,which she served as during Oduber's second cabinet. During her tenure as Minister of Finance,from 1993 to 1994,there was a quarrel between coalition members of the ruling government,which led to early elections and a shortened term. [3] Despite this,she maintained firm control over government spending and for the first time in Aruba's status aparte period the country had a budget surplus. [4]
From 1994 to 2001,Tromp was a Member of the Parliament of Aruba and sat on the People's Electoral Movement party board. From 30 October 2001 to 1 December 2005,she again served as Minister Plenipotentiary in Oduber's third cabinet. Upon the resignation of Christina van den Berg-de Freitas on 1 September 2008,she was appointed as acting Governor of Aruba. [5] She resigned on November 1,2016,and was succeeded by Yvonne Lacle-Dirksz.
In 1992,Tromp was awarded the Order of Francisco de Miranda (1st Class) by Venezuela for her services as a representative of Aruba to the Kingdom Body,a consultative mechanism between Venezuela,the Netherlands,the Netherlands Antilles,and Aruba,from 1989 to 1991. [6]
She is also a Knight in the Order of the Netherlands Lion,the highest Dutch civil order. [6]

Aruba is located approximately 29 kilometres (18 mi) north of the Venezuelan peninsula of Paraguanáand 80 kilometres (50 mi) northwest of Curaçao.
Gilberto François "Betico" Croes was an Aruban political activist who was a proponent for Aruba's separation from the Netherlands Antilles. This eventually occurred in 1986,but following a car accident on 31 December 1985,Croes lapsed into a coma and never became conscious to see his accomplishment. He is best remembered as "Libertador" (liberator) and as the father of the Aruban people.
The People's Electoral Movement is a social democratic political party in Aruba. Following the 2001 general election for the Parliament of Aruba the party won 52.4% of popular vote and 12 out of 21 seats. In the 2005 general election,the party won 43% of the popular vote and 11 out of 21 seats thus won the election and remained in power. In the 2009 general election,MEP lost 2 seats and won 36% of the vote,subsequently losing the election.

Francisco Walfrido "Frido" Croes was an Aruban politician and schoolteacher who held the office of Minister Plenipotentiary of Aruba from 2005 to 2009. Prior to that,he served as a member of the Estates of Aruba from 1989 to 1994,and as its President from 2001 to 2004. He also served as Minister of Education from 2004 to 2005.
Felipe Benito Tromp was the first governor of Aruba after Aruba received a status aparte within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. He worked as a teacher prior to becoming governor and served as Minister for Education in the Antilles (1958–1962). He took office as governor on 1 January 1986 and left office on 12 March 1992. He was succeeded by Olindo Koolman.
Edwin Bibiano Abath is an Aruban politician and former singer who served as Minister Plenipotentiary of Aruba from 1 November 2009 to 13 November 2013. From 1999 until 2005 he was a Member of Parliament for the Aruban People's Party in the Estates of Aruba. He represented Aruba as a singer in the 1988 OTI Festival.
Antonito Gordiano "Mito" Croes was an Aruban politician of the Aruban People's Party. He served as Minister Plenipotentiary of Aruba from 1994 to 2001. He previously served as member of the Estates and government minister of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba.

Francisco Dominico "Frans" Figaroa was an Aruban politician who served as Lieutenant governor of Aruba from 1979 until 1982,figaroa previously served as President of the Parliament of the Netherlands Antilles (1973-1979) and Minister of Education of the Netherlands Antilles (1961-1962),Figaroa also served as chairman of the Aruba Football Federation and chairman of the Netherlands Antilles Olympic Committee.
Alette Beaujon was a Dutch poet and psychologist from the Netherlands Antilles. Born in Curaçao and later living in the Netherlands and Aruba,she published poems in Dutch,English and Papiamento,while working as a clinical psychologist. A collection of her unpublished poems were discovered after her death and released in 2009.

Efraïn Jonckheer was a businessman and politician of the Netherlands Antilles. Jonckheer served as Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles from 8 November 1954 until 14 February 1968. He served as Minister Plenipotentiary of the Netherlands Antilles from 1968 until 1971,Ambassador of the Netherlands to Venezuela from 1971 until 1976,and to Costa Rica from 1976 until 1982. As of 2022,Jonckheer was the longest serving Prime Minister in the history of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The first Wever-Croes cabinet was the cabinet of Aruba from 17 November 2017 to 20 September 2021. It was formed by a coalition government of the political parties People's Electoral Movement (MEP),Proud and Respected People (POR) and Democratic Network (RED),and was led by Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes. It was the country's first coalition government in sixteen years and the first cabinet to be headed by a woman.
The second Wever-Croes cabinet is the current cabinet of Aruba. It was installed on 20 September 2021 by Deputy Governor Yvonne Laclé-Dirksz. The cabinet is formed by a coalition government of the center-left political parties People's Electoral Movement (MEP) and RAIZ,and is led by Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes.
Juan Edberto"Ady"Thijsen is an Aruban politician. He has served as Minister Plenipotentiary of Aruba since 2022 and Permanent Representative of Aruba to the European Union since December 2021. He had been Deputy Minister Plenipotentiary from 2021. Thijsen was member of the Parliament of Aruba for the People's Electoral Movement between 2005 and 2021,and served as its President between 2017 and 2021.
