The Embassy of Brazil in Islamabad [lower-alpha 1] is the diplomatic mission of Brazil in Pakistan. The current Brazilian ambassador to Pakistan is Olyntho Vieira [1]

Location

The embassy is located at House No. 1 on Street No. 72 in sector F-8/3 of Islamabad. [2] It operates on weekdays from 9 am to 6 pm. In addition to the ambassador's office, the embassy includes the consular, commercial, cultural and educational, and cooperation sections. [3] [4]

History

The Brazilian embassy in Pakistan was established in 1952, shortly after the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1948. [5] Brazil was the first Latin American country to open a diplomatic mission in Pakistan. [6] The embassy was formerly located at 6 Victoria Road, Karachi, during the 1950s, before the capital was shifted to Islamabad in the 1960s. [7] It is concurrently accredited to Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

Activities

The embassy plays an important role in the promotion of Brazilian culture in Pakistan, and the bilateral relations between the two countries. [8] Various consular services are provided. [9] The Brazilian ambassador also serves as the honorary president of the Pakistan-Brazil Friendship Association (PBFA), established in 2011. [10] [11] [12] The embassy arranges numerous cultural events, including Independence Day celebrations, the Brazilian Film Festival, arts and photographic exhibitions, food exhibitions, musical events, documentary screenings, and book launches. [5] [13] [14] [15] [16] [17] It also provides free language classes in Brazilian Portuguese. [18] [19] [20] Over 120 students have graduated from the course. [21]

Pakistan–Somalia relations are the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Somalia. Both Organisation of Islamic Cooperation members, the two countries have historically maintained strong relations. Somalia also has an embassy in Islamabad.

Domingo Domingo Lucenario Jr. was a Philippine diplomat. He served as Ambassador to Pakistan from April 24, 2013 to his death in the 2015 Pakistan Army Mil Mi-17 crash, on May 8, 2015. He has a rare distinction of winning three presidential awards as a diplomat.

Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognise the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic in 1958. This was followed shortly later by Algeria opening its diplomatic mission in Karachi, then the capital of Pakistan.

The Embassy of Argentina in Islamabad is the diplomatic mission of Argentina to Pakistan. It is located at 20, Hill Rd, F-6-3, F-6, Islamabad, Islamabad. Argentina sent its first diplomat to Pakistan in January 1948. The two countries soon established full diplomatic relations and the Argentine embassy was opened in Karachi, the former capital, on 29 October 1951.

The Embassy of Austria in Islamabad is the diplomatic mission of Austria to Pakistan. It is located at 7-A, Street 21 in Sector F-8/2, Islamabad. Austria and Pakistan established diplomatic relations in 1956.

The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Islamabad is the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan to Pakistan. It is located at Plot 1D and 1E in Diplomatic Encave II, Islamabad. The embassy is concurrently accredited to Afghanistan.

The Embassy of Bahrain in Islamabad is the diplomatic mission of Bahrain to Pakistan. It is located at House No. 12, Street 2 in Sector F-6/3, Islamabad. Bahrain also has a consulate-general in Karachi.

The Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul is the diplomatic mission of Pakistan in Afghanistan. Pakistan also operates consulates in the Afghan cities of Herat, Jalalabad, Kandahar and Mazar-e-Sharif.

Tarik Ahsan A Bangladeshi diplomat

Tarik Ahsan is a Bangladeshi diplomat. He has been the Ambassador-designate of Bangladesh to Portugal since early October 2020. Before this assignment, he was the High Commissioner (Ambassador) of Bangladesh to Pakistan since July 2016. Prior to that, Tarik Ahsan had been Bangladesh High Commissioner to Sri Lanka since October 2014.

Claudio Raja Gabaglia Lins is a Brazilian diplomat. He served as Brazil's ambassador to Pakistan from 21 August 2015 to January 2020. On 12 March 2020, Lins presented his credentials as Brazil's ambassador to the Bahamas.
