Escalator is the only album by the Sam Gopal band, released in 1969 on the small Stable Records label. [1] The band also recorded "Horse" and a Willie Dixon cover "Back Door Man", which survive on acetate, and appear on the re-released album as bonus tracks. [1] Ian Fraser Kilmister, later known as Lemmy, joined the band after playing in The Rockin' Vickers, but appears as Ian Willis, as he was considering changing his surname to that of his stepfather George Willis.

Williams had organised to do a duet of the famous Tammy Wynette country song, though most critics, and fans, to this day are baffled by the choice, Wendy coming from the punk scene in the mid-late 1970s and Lemmy from a mixture of Rock genres.

The Rockin' Vickers were an English rock and roll band from Blackpool, active from 1963 to 1968. They toured the UK and continental Europe and released four singles during their existence. The band is however best-remembered for launching the career of Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister of Motörhead, then known as Ian Willis.

Opal Butterfly was an English psychedelic rock band from Oxfordshire, that was active between 1968 and 1970. Although the band itself did not gain widespread success, the musicians did go on to conduct successful musical careers. The band featured Simon King (drums) and for a short time, Lemmy, who later joined Hawkwind. Further members were Robert "Robbie" Milne, Allan Love, Richard Bardey (bass), and Tommy Doherty. The band released three official singles of the heavy psychedelic rock style before disbanding.
