Ewen James Hanning Cameron,Baron Cameron of Dillington, DL , FRICS , FRSA (born 24 November 1949),is a British farmer,landowner and life peer who sits as a crossbench member of the House of Lords.
Lord Cameron is one of five siblings and the second but elder surviving son of Major Allan John Cameron,second son of Colonel Sir Donald Walter Cameron of Lochiel,25th Chief of Clan Cameron in the Scottish Highlands. His mother (Mary) Elizabeth Vaughan-Lee was descended from a Somerset-based land-owning family. [1]
He was educated at Harrow School and at Oxford University,where he studied modern history.
Cameron has been manager of the Dillington House Estate,near Ilminster in Somerset,which has been in his mother's family for over 250 years and from which he has taken part of his title,since 1971. He was national president of the Country Land and Business Association from 1995 to 1997 and was a member of the UK Government's Round Table for Sustainable Development from 1997 until 2000,when it was abolished to create the Sustainable Development Commission. He was chair of the Countryside Agency from 1999 to 2004 and was the UK Government's rural advocate for England from 2000 to 2004.
He was appointed High Sheriff of Somerset for 1986 [2] and raised to a life peerage as Baron Cameron of Dillington in the County of Somerset on 29 June 2004, [3] having been knighted in the 2003 New Year Honours. [4]
He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and of the Royal Agricultural Societies. Between 2010 and 2015,he was President of the Guild of Agricultural Journalists. [5] He has been co-chair of the All-party Parliamentary Group on Agriculture and Food for Development,alongside Tony Baldry MP,since the 2010 election.
Lord Cameron married Caroline Anne Ripley in 1975,daughter of Horace Derek de Chapeaurouge Ripley,and has three sons and one daughter. His younger sister,Bride Donalda Elspeth Cameron (now Lady Donald Graham) is married to Lord Donald Graham,half-brother of James Graham,8th Duke of Montrose.

Montrose was elevated as a reward for his important support of the Act of Union. It has remained since then in the Graham family,tied to the chieftainship of Clan Graham.
Earl of Norbury,in the County of Tipperary,is a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created in 1827,along with the title Viscount Glandine,of Glandine in the King's County,for the Irish politician and judge John Toler,1st Baron Norbury,upon his retirement as Chief Justice of the Common Pleas in Ireland. The titles were created with special remainder to his second son,Hector,as his eldest son,Daniel,was then considered mentally unwell. Lord Norbury had already been created Baron Norbury,of Ballycrenode in the County of Tipperary,in the Peerage of Ireland in 1800,with remainder to the heirs male of his body. Moreover,his wife,Grace Toler,had been created Baroness Norwood,of Knockalton in the County of Tipperary,in the Peerage of Ireland in 1797,with remainder to the heirs male of her body. By the time Lord Norbury was raised to the Earldom,his wife had died and their eldest son had succeeded her as 2nd Baron Norwood. This son also succeeded Lord Norbury himself on his death in 1831 as 2nd Baron Norbury,whilst his younger brother Daniel succeeded to the viscountcy and earldom according to the special remainder. In 1832,the second Earl also succeeded his elder brother in the two baronies. He had already in 1825 assumed the additional surname of Graham by Royal licence.

An incident demonstrating his strength and ferocity in single combat,when he bit out the throat of an enemy,is used by Sir Walter Scott in Lady of the Lake.

The present house,which dates from the 16th century,is owned by Lord Cameron of Dillington and operated by Somerset County Council. There has been a house on the site since before the Norman Conquest,probably taking advantage of the nearby chalybeate spring.
