Executioner was an American thrash metal band from Boston, Massachusetts, that was active from 1984 to 1990.
Executioner was formed in 1984. Their track "Victims of Evil" was issued on the compilation Speed Metal Hell in 1985. [1] They were then signed to New Renaissance Records and recorded material throughout 1985, which was released as their debut album In the Name of Metal in 1986.
After a show in San Antonio, Texas. Ari punched a van and broke his hand and eventually flew home while Seth (who was their roadie at the time) and the other members of the band drove home. Ari ended up cutting his hair which lead to Marc kicking him out because he thought it would affect their image, he was replaced with a guy who swept floors at his uncle's hair salon, Seth ended up buying a white BC Rich Warlock bass and joined the band in Autumn 1986 after the hairdresser quit, and did some shows with them. In early 1987 the band recorded the "Break the Silence" album. They went on tour and played with bands such as The Accüsed, Voivod, Kreator, Dr. Know, Nuclear Assault, St. Vitus, Dream Death, The Mentors, etc.
In May 1988, Putnam left the band and was replaced by Tommy Flynn. With Flynn, they recorded material throughout 1988 and most of 1989, but shortly after the material was mixed, the band broke up. [2] Had Executioner not broken up, the material was to have been called In Cold Blood and released in 1990.
In 1999, a CD called The Storm after the Calm was released, containing the tracks from the sessions in 1988 and 1989 and four faux-live tracks.
In 2013, In the Name of Metal was reissued on CD with bonus tracks, including "Final Destruction" (only available on cassette on the original release), the original recording of "Victims of Evil" and the faux-live of AC/DC's "Walk All Over You" from The Storm after the Calm. Later that year, Break the Silence was released on CD without any bonus material.
Venom are an English heavy metal band formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1978. Coming to prominence towards the end of the new wave of British heavy metal, Venom's first two albums, Welcome to Hell (1981) and Black Metal (1982), are considered major influences on thrash metal and extreme metal in general. Their second album proved influential enough that its title was used as the name of the black metal genre; as a result, Venom were part of the early wave of the genre, along with Mercyful Fate and Bathory.
Atheist is an American death metal band from Florida, founded in 1984 by the vocalist and rhythm guitarist Kelly Shaefer, lead guitarist Rand Burkey, bassist Roger Patterson and drummer Steve Flynn. The band is known for its highly technical playing style, and its 1991 album Unquestionable Presence is regarded as a landmark of the technical death metal genre. After disbanding in 1994, the group reformed in 2006 and has since released one studio album and a live DVD.
Bolt Thrower were an English death metal band from Coventry. They formed in 1986 and released their first album with Vinyl Solution in 1988. The band then shifted to a new record label, Earache Records, soon becoming one of the best selling bands on that label. Their last label was Metal Blade Records. The band had a succession of members, and had toured Europe, the United States, and Australia. Over the course of their 30-year career, Bolt Thrower released eight studio albums, three EPs, one live album, three compilation albums and two demos. On 14 September 2016 the band announced that they were breaking up, following the death of drummer Martin Kearns exactly a year earlier.

Leprosy is the second studio album by American death metal band Death, released on August 12, 1988, by Combat Records. Obsessed by Cruelty is the debut full-length studio album and the second release by German thrash metal band Sodom, released in 1986. Two different versions of the album exist, the European and the American, which were released by Steamhammer and Metal Blade Records.
Controlled Bleeding was an experimental music group based in Massapequa, New York. The group was founded by Paul Lemos, the group's only consistent member. Most of Controlled Bleeding's released recordings feature two main collaborators, Chris Moriarty and vocalist Joe Papa, who both died in the late 2000s. In February 2020 Lemos announced that the band had dissolved.
Abruptum is a Swedish black metal and dark ambient solo side-project band. It is run by Evil of Marduk, but the band was formed in 1989 by IT. All, Ext and Evil joined the band later. IT was one of the leaders of the True Satanist Horde, part of the Swedish Black metal scene. Euronymous, co-founder of Mayhem and founder of Deathlike Silence Productions, described Abruptum as "the audial essence of pure black evil".
Bound by Fire is the debut album by Canadian humorous metal band, Zimmers Hole. This edition of the album may be out of print. Some copies surface on eBay quite often. It was later re-issued on Century Media Records with bonus tracks. Devin Townsend produced this CD underneath the alias "Dr.Skinny"
Terrified is the seventh album by American heavy metal band Quiet Riot. It is the band's first album in five years, and marks the return of singer Kevin DuBrow after his firing in 1987. It is bassist Kenny Hillery's only studio album with the band, and drummer Bobby Rondinelli plays on several songs. Many of the album's songs were featured in Charles Band's movie Dollman vs. Demonic Toys, with the album itself being released on Moonstone Records, the soundtrack offshoot of Band's film company Full Moon Entertainment.

Stephen Grimmett was a British heavy metal vocalist, best known as the lead singer for Grim Reaper. Of Grim Reaper's numerous lineups over the band's existence Grimmett was the sole consistent member from 1982 to 1988, then 2006 until his death in 2022. Outside of Grim Reaper Grimmett has been associated with many other various metal-based acts/projects.
Scorn Defeat is the first full-length album by the Japanese black metal band Sigh, released in 1993 by Deathlike Silence Productions. It is the band's most traditional black metal album, taking on a formula lyrically compared to their Scandinavian peers. The album takes its title from a line in the title track from Venom's 1981 album Welcome to Hell. On Scorn Defeat, the line itself is said on "At My Funeral".
Tuff is an American glam metal band, formed in 1985 in Phoenix, Arizona, United States, by guitarist Jorge Manos (DeSaint), bassist Todd Chaisson (Chase), and included guitarist David Janssen, drummer Chris Louthan, and vocalist Michael Meyers (Cordet). This incarnation of Tuff was prior to taking on its "Glam" image, and the music was significantly "heavier". This little documented line-up actually played in the local Phoenix market for roughly a year, at such clubs as opening for various National Acts, including Flotsam and Jetsam.
A Gate Through Bloodstained Mirrors is a 2001 demo by the American black metal one-man-band Xasthur. Reviews of that release, first published by Profane Productions as a limited CD-R edition of 150 copies, proved to be positive, comparing the material to old Graveland and Burzum. With the increasing cult status of Xasthur, the demo was reissued by Total Holocaust Records, featuring a different mix and track list. This edition was also published as a double-12" vinyl release by Debemur Morti Productions (2004) and finally by Hydra Head Records. The record is rumored to have influenced at least one suicide.

Forced Entry is an American thrash metal band, formed in 1983 in Seattle, Washington under the name Critical Condition. The band released two studio albums, one EP and three demos before breaking up in 1995, and briefly reunited in 2002. They announced in 2020 that they were planning to reunite again for a series of shows and possibly new material. Although Forced Entry never achieved mainstream success, they are often regarded as pioneers of the Seattle thrash metal scene, along with Metal Church, Panic, Bitter End, Coven, R.I.P. and Sanctuary.
