Exiit is the debut extended play (EP) by American singer Kanii, released on June 16, 2023. After rising to prominence with his single "Attachment," Kanii would sign a record deal with Warner and Masked Records. Production was handled by a variety of producers including PR1SVX, 9lives and Skuna.

Contents

Exiit is an R&B EP that explores themes of romance. In addition to "I Know", the EP was promoted with the singles "Heart Racing," "Go," and "I Know" and a release show located in Brooklyn, New York.

Background and performance

Exiit was expected to be in a trilogy, as confirmed by Kanii. [1] The lead single "I Know" gained a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). [2] [3] The EP's release show was held at Market Hotel located in Brooklyn, New York. [4] Exiit debuted at No. 10 on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart during the week of July 1, 2023. [5] Within a week of its release the EP had gained 4,000 equivalent album units, in accordance with Luminate.

Critical reception

The project received general acclaim with complaints about the EP sounding like TikTok, mainly directed to the track "Go". DJ Connor of Ones to Watch said the EP was "a raucous sense of composition fitting for his unique, genreless style, speaks to a borderless mix of tracks with hints of former inspirations." [6] Martha Clifford of Affair Post claimed the EP was evidence of "the ability of talent and fortitude to overcome industry constraints." [7]
