FIL European Luge Championships 2014

The 2014 FIL European Luge Championships took place under the auspices of the International Luge Federation at Sigulda, Latvia from 25 to 26 January 2014. This was the third time Sigulda hosted the event. [1]

FIL World Luge Championships

The FIL European Luge Championships, part of the International Luge Federation (FIL) have taken place since 1914. From 1914 to 1934, these championships were part of the Internationaler Schlittensportsverband. From 1935 to 1956, the championships were held under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing. Since 1962, the event has been under the auspices of the FIL and has been held in even-numbered years since 1980. Since 2012, it is held annually.

The FIL European Luge Championships 1996 took place in Sigulda, Latvia.

Markus Schmidt is an Austrian luger who competed between 1987 and 1997. Competing in two Winter Olympics, he earned a bronze medal in the men's singles event at Albertville in 1992.

Anna Orlova is a retired Latvian luger who competed at six Winter Olympics between 1992 and 2010. She won the silver medal in the mixed team event at the 2003 FIL World Luge Championships in Sigulda, Latvia and finished fourth in the women's singles event at those same championships.

Sonja Manzenreiter is an Austrian luger who competed from 1997 to 2006. She won the bronze medal in the mixed team event at the 2003 FIL World Luge Championships in Sigulda, Latvia.

Alexandra Vasiliyevna Rodionova is a Russian bobsledder and former luger who has competed since 2003. Competing in two Winter Olympics, she earned her best finish of sixth in the women's singles event at Vancouver in 2010.

The Sigulda bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track is located in Sigulda, Latvia, built in 1986. Currently, the track manager is Dainis Dukurs, former bobsleigh brakeman and the father of skeleton racers Martins and Tomass Dukurs.

The FIL European Luge Championships 2010 took place 19 – 24 January 2010 in Sigulda, Latvia for the second time, hosting the event previously in 1996.

2021 FIL European Luge Championships Luge competition in Sigulda, Latvia

The 2021 FIL European Luge Championships were held from 9 to 10 January 2021 in Sigulda, Latvia. This was the fifth time Sigulda hosted the event.

The men's singles competition at the 2021 FIL European Luge Championships was held on 9 January 2021.

The women's singles competition at the 2021 FIL European Luge Championships was held on 10 January 2021.
