The Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) is an Indian NGO that is the progressive face of Indian MSMEs and is regarded as such by the Government of India. It is a member of the National MSME Board formed under the MSME Act 2006. FISME is consulted by SME policy making set-up of the country and also works in close coordination with the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises as well as major multilateral and bilateral bodies in India such as UNIDO, ILO, UNCTAD, DFID, GTZ etc. Supported by UNCTAD, DFID and Ministry of Commerce & Industry, as a Tier-I partner, FISME is leading 22 provincial SME bodies in 18 states. History

Coinciding with the launch of major policy and support initiatives of the Indian government to promote the growth and development of small scale industries in India, FISME was initially born as the National Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (NAYE) in 1967 to provide an outreach and advocacy forum for small industries in particular and entrepreneurship in general. In the post-liberalisation era, NAYE along with eight state level associations formed FISME in 1995. [2]

FISME conducts regular events across India catering to the different needs of SMEs. They recently conducted India SME forum recently in participation with other organisations. [3]

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are businesses whose personnel numbers fall below certain limits. The abbreviation "SME" is used by international organizations such as the World Bank, the European Union, the United Nations and the World Trade Organization (WTO). The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) is a non-governmental trade association and advocacy group based in India. Established in 1927, on the advice of Mahatma Gandhi by GD Birla and Purshottamdas Thakurdas, it is the largest, oldest and the apex business organisation in India. It is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation. FICCI draws its membership from the corporate sector, both private and public, including SMEs and MNCs. The chamber has an indirect membership of over 250,000 companies from various regional chambers of commerce. It is involved in sector-specific business building, business promotion and networking. It is headquartered in the national capital New Delhi and has a presence in 12 states in India and 8 countries across the world.

Small Industries Development Bank of India Indian Financial Services company

Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) is a regulatory agency in India, under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Finance, Government of India headquartered at Lucknow and having its offices all over the country. Its purpose is to provide refinance facilities and short-term lending to industries, and serves as the principal financial institution in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. SIDBI also coordinates the functions of institutions engaged in similar activities. It was established on 2 April 1990, through an Act of Parliament. It is headquartered in Lucknow. SIDBI operates under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.

Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, a branch of the Government of India, is the apex executive body for the formulation and administration of rules, regulations and laws relating to micro, small and medium enterprises in India. The Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises is Nitin Gadkari and the Minister of State is Pratap Chandra Sarangi since 31 May 2019.

SMERA, widely known as ‘The SME Rating Agency’, was conceptualised by Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India and the Reserve Bank of India to help Indian MSMEs grow and get access to credit through independent and unbiased credit opinion that banks can rely on. SMERA offers SME Ratings, New Enterprise Credibility Scores, SME Credit Due Diligence and SME Trust Seal to Indian MSMEs to help lenders take informed decisions.

National Small Industries Corporation

National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC) is a Mini Ratna PSU established by the Government of India in 1955 It falls under Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises of India. NSIC is the nodal office for several schemes of Ministry of MSME such as Performance & Credit Rating, Single Point Registration, MSME Databank, National SC ST Hub, etc.

UNCTAD's Division on Investment and Enterprise (DIAE) is a research and policy practice centre of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development whose work focuses on investment and enterprise with a particular view on development. The Division's overarching mandate is to steer sustainable development and inclusive growth objectives through investment and enterprise development, productive capacity-building, industrialization and economic diversification. Its work programme is tailored to serve all UN member States, with a particular emphasis on the needs of least-developed and other structurally weak and vulnerable economies.

Knowledge and News Network

Knowledge & News Network (KNN) is a community-owned not-for-profit alternative media platform established to address the problems of Indian MSMEs arising from gaps in information and knowledge flows. It is promoted by GIZ-German Agency for International Cooperation and the Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) under the aegis of an umbrella bilateral development programme jointly supported by Government of Federal Republic of Germany and Government of India.

Dr. Sailendra Narain is a development finance specialist born in Nawadah, Bihar Province, India. For over 40 years, Narain has been a pioneer in developing the global SME sector. His specialities include: designing policy frameworks for SME Growth, establishing SME financing programs in banking and development financial institutions, and capacity building for SMEs with a focus on Entrepreneurship.

Venkateshwar Reddy

G Venkateshwar Reddy is a Politician from Indian National Congress from Telangana. The government appointed him as the Vice-chairman of the National Board of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises for a term of three years 2013-2016.

Micro businesses in the Philippines can be defined according to the size of assets, size of equity capital, and number of employees. A typical micro business is a business that employs nine people or fewer, with assets of ₱3 million and below .

Post liberalization, India embarked on a process of creating the quality infrastructure in the country which can help Indian products and services easy access to foreign markets in the new order under WTO regime. In the process, an organization was sought to be established which would function as the National Accreditation body (NAB). The responsibility to set up the organization was given to the then Department of Industries.

Enterprise Singapore

Udyog Aadhaar is a twelve digit Unique Identification Number provided by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India for small and medium enterprises, beginning in September 2015. It is also known as Aadhaar for Business. As of July 2018, more than 48 lakh MSMEs in India are registered under Udyog Aadhaar.

IID (Imperial Institute of Design)

The IID is a design school in Monteswar, Purba Bardhaman district, West Bengal, India. The institute functions as an autonomous body certified under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. IID is registered & recognised by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, government of India.

National Institute of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises

National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NI-MSME) is a national institute aimed to foster the progress of micro, small and medium enterprises in India under Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. NI-MSME is registered in Hyderabad, Telangana, under Public Societies Registration Act I of 1350 Fasli with effective from 1st July 1962. The affairs of the Society are managed, administered, directed and controlled through Governing Council constituted by the Government of India as per Rule 22(a & b) of Rules and Regulations of the Society. The Society, as provided under Rule 3 of Rules and Regulations, was constituted by the Government of India. The Institute has been working in the areas of capacity building, research, skill upgradation, job enrichment training in the field of Entrepreneurship and Skill including the development of women pursuing small trades at the cottage industry level from an Incubation centre at NI-MSME.

Small and Medium Enterprise Foundation (SMEF) was established by the Government of Bangladesh through Ministry of Industries. In line with the SME Policy 2019, Industrial Policy 2016, 8th Five Year Plan, Vision 2021, SDG 2030 and Vision 2041, SMEF has been implementing multifaceted activities like business support services and market linkage support for SMEs, improve access to institutional finance for SMEs, design and implement development interventions for SME clusters, identify problems and prospects of SMEs by conducting necessary research, strengthen regulatory and legislative framework in favor of SMEs, promote up-gradation and adoption of appropriate technologies, increase SME business efficiency by using ICT-based tools, provide capacity building trainings for developing adequate human resources for SMEs, and assist women entrepreneurs. SMEF’s one of the major focus is the Cluster-based SME development. Professor Dr. Md. Masudur Rahman is the chairman of the Small and Medium Enterprise Foundation.
