FIYM is the first extended play by American pop boy band Forever in Your Mind. It was released on July 1, 2016, through Hollywood Records, and was preceded by its lead single, "Hurricane".
Following the band's creation in 2013 from a group of contestants on The X-Factor , Forever in Your Mind released several pop singles, such as "Sweet Little Something", before signing with Hollywood Records in November 2015. [1] As artists signed to a record label of the Disney Music Group, [2] members Liam Attridge, Ricky Garcia, and Emery Kelly cultivated the band's pop music style by recording medleys of tracks from popular Disney Channel movies and covers of contemporary chart-toppers, like Taylor Swift's "Wildest Dreams". [3]
Shortly after announcing that the band would sign onto the record label, Garcia indicated that the band was excited to "officially" make music for its fans. [4]
FIYM is largely a pop music production, with lyrical and compositional tendencies toward the teen pop subgenre. Just as the debut EP of fellow Hollywood labelmate and Disney Channel actress Olivia Holt featured a diverse range of musical influences from track to track, the four tracks that comprise FIYM draw influences from several genres. Lead single ″Hurricane″ offers a rock-tinged sound, while the chorus of second single ″Enough About Me″ features disco roots. Third single ″Compass″ also provides a unique, folk-esque sound to the EP. AllMusic lists the EP's genre as ″pop/rock″ [5]
Forever in Your Mind has performed tracks from FIYM throughout 2016 to promote the EP. On July 4, 2016, the band performed Hurricane on ABC's Good Morning America . [6] Later that year, Forever in Your Mind played its first major headlining show at the iconic Roxy Theatre, performing "Enough About Me" and "Whistle" in addition to "Hurricane". The band also filmed a mini-series entitled "Road to the Roxy" to document their experiences leading up to the gig. The band joined labelmate Olivia Holt on her Rise of a Phoenix Tour as a supporting act, along with Ryland Lynch and Isac Elliot. [7]
"Hurricane" was release as the only single from the EP on April 29, 2016. The music video, which shows the boys throwing a party in an abandoned house in the desert during a storm, was released on May 7.
"Enough About Me" premiered a music video the day prior to the EP’s release on June 30, 2016. The video features a battle between the boys and three girls in a high school, in which both sides trade dares for one another to perform.
"Compass"' music video was released on December 30, 2016, as the final visual premiere for FIYM. The video shows the boys walking along a trail up a mountain while singing. [8]

New Kids on the Block is an American boy band from Dorchester, Massachusetts. The band consists of brothers Jonathan and Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood. New Kids on the Block enjoyed success in the late 1980s and early 1990s and have sold more than 80 million records worldwide, and are often credited for paving the way for future boy bands such as Take That, Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. They won two American Music Awards in 1990 for Favorite Pop/Rock Band, Duo, or Group and Favorite Pop/Rock Album. In 1991, they performed the halftime show at Super Bowl XXV, a first for a popular music group.
Aly & AJ is an American pop rock duo consisting of sisters Aly Michalka and AJ Michalka from Torrance, California. They signed with Hollywood Records and in 2005, they released their debut album Into the Rush. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA and contained the singles "Rush" and "Chemicals React". They followed this release with the albums Acoustic Hearts of Winter (2006) and Insomniatic (2007). Tyler Garcia-Posey is an American actor and musician. He performed in his early years in a number of children's film and television roles, for which he was twice nominated for a Young Artist Award. He was known for his roles as Raul Garcia in Doc (2001–2004) and Ty Ventura in Maid in Manhattan (2002). As an adult, he is known for playing the central character Scott McCall in the MTV series Teen Wolf (2011–2017), although he has since been cast in a number of film roles and has also performed in voice acting roles. In late 2011 to 2012, he won a number of youth acting awards, including a Teen Choice Award, and was nominated for several others. He was active for several years in the band Lost in Kostko, which he co-founded in 2009.
Allstar Weekend was an American pop rock band based in Poway, California. The band gained its popularity from MySpace and then the Disney Channel television network. The band consisted of lead singer Zachary "Zach" Porter, bassist Cameron Quiseng, drummer Michael Martinez, and lead guitarist Nathan Darmody. In September 2011, Darmody left the band and later pursued his solo career. They were best known for the singles "Dance Forever", "Come Down with Love", and "A Different Side of Me". They disbanded on August 4, 2013.

Hey Violet is an American pop rock band from Los Angeles, California, consisting of Rena Lovelis, Nia Lovelis and Casey Moreta.
R5 was an American pop rock band formed in Los Angeles in 2009. The band consisted of Ross Lynch, Riker Lynch, Rocky Lynch, Rydel Lynch (keyboards/vocals), and Ellington Ratliff (drums/vocals). They released their first EP Ready Set Rock on March 9, 2010, but it was removed once Ross got his role on the Disney Channel show Austin and Ally. They then released the EP Loud on February 19, 2013. Since releasing their debut album, Louder, on September 24, 2013, which peaked at 24 on the Billboard 200, followed by their world tour. Their second album, Sometime Last Night, was released on July 10, 2015, and debuted at 6 on the US Billboard 200, and reached the top 20 in five other countries. They have also released five EPs, eleven singles, and a documentary. In 2018, the band ended and Ross and Rocky formed the duo The Driver Era.
"Hurricane" is a song by American recording artist Bridgit Mendler, from her debut studio album, Hello My Name Is... (2012). The song was released as a promotional single to the iTunes Store as Single of the Week on October 22, 2012, and was later announced to be the second single from the album. On February 12, 2013, the song was released to Top 40 radio.

Carpenter began planning the project in 2014, after she launched her debut EP Can't Blame a Girl for Trying, she wanted to make a full-length LP. All the tracks on that EP were included on the album. The album was recorded from 2013 - 2015 with the majority of the album being recorded in 2014. Musically, Eyes Wide Open is a pop record with folk, pop rock and teen pop influences. Its production consists of guitars, piano, drums and keyboards. Thematically, the album focuses on Carpenter's personal experiences, friendship, love and teenage problems.

The track also appears on her debut studio album Eyes Wide Open (2015), serving as the third track of the record. The song was produced by Brian Malouf and written by Michelle Moyer, Jim McGorman with Robb Vallier, the last two being co-producers of the track. "The Middle of Starting Over" is a midtempo pop folk song with country pop influences backed by acoustic guitars and percussion elements. Lyrically, the song speaks about moving on, starting all over again and forgetting the mistakes. According to Carpenter, the song is about taking in life's mistakes and just finding fun ways to get through life.
