F is the service designation for trains on the ring line of Copenhagen's S-train network. It runs from 05:00 to 01:00 from Copenhagen South to Hellerup. Trains run every 5 minutes between about 7:00 and 19:00, Monday through Friday, and every 10 minutes on weekends, early mornings and late evenings/nights. On Friday and Saturday nights there is also a 30 minutes service throughout the night. In 2028 this line is planned to become a pilot project for driverless operation of the S-train system, becoming fully automated in 2029. [1] [2]

Line M

Line M is a special S-train line in Copenhagen that runs in connection with track works and the like. It runs from Hillerød Station via Hellerup Station and Nørrebro Station to Copenhagen South Station. It thus connects the Nordbanen and the Ringbanen.

Line M first ran as a temporary line from July 28 to August 17, 2014 in connection with construction work on Nordhavnsvej. [3] The second time was from June 30 to July 16, 2017, when the train was operated in connection with track work. [4] The third time was three evenings in June 2024 and a weekend in July 2024 in connection with bridge work at Svanemøllen Station. [5] [6]

Line M has the following stations on the line, taken in order from Hillerød Station to Copenhagen South Station.

The ring line also has a history of supplementary services with other designations than F. At some times the variant service letters have been used to indicate which trains continued from Hellerup to Klampenborg. In other periods it has simply been because then-prevalent principles mandated that a single service letter such as F could not be used for more than exactly 3 trains an hour, so in parts of the day when more trains ran, extra services had to be invented.

There previously existed a regular line M, which was established as a supplement to line F on the Ring Line on May 28, 1989. It was changed to line F+ on September 15, 2002. [7] The line was incorporated into line F in a reform of the line network on September 23, 2007.
