Md Fakhrul Ahsan, BSP, ndu, psc is a major general in the Bangladesh Army and Force Commander for MINURSO, the UN peacekeeping mission in the Sahara. [4] Prior to join there, he was GOC of the 10th Infantry Division and & Area Commander, Cox's Bazar Area. [2] Before that, He served as Commandant of Bangladesh Military Academy.
Ahsan was selected at the ISSB for the 19th (BMA) Long Course [1] and was commissioned in 23 December 1988. [5] During his posting as Director of Army military intelligence, he played a significant role in Operation Twilight. [6] In his long career, he also served as Assistant Defence Attaché at Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, India and in two peacekeeping missions, in Somalia (UNOSOM-II) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC). [1] He also served as Commandant of Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) in Bhatiary, Chattogram [3] before taking over command of the 10th Infantry division. [2]
The Bangladesh Army is the land warfare branch and the largest component of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The primary mission of the Army is to defend the land of Bangladesh from any external attack. Control of personnel and operations is administered by the Army Headquarters, Dhaka Cantonment. The Bangladesh Army is also constitutionally obligated to assist the government, during times of domestic national emergency e.g. the army helps people during any natural calamity. This additional role is commonly referred to as "aid to civil administration" or, using the Latin form, "Protectio, Transparentia, Reintegratio", in others words, "Protect and Serve".
Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) is the military training institute for the officer cadets of Bangladesh Army. It is located in Bhatiary, near the Chittagong Hill Tracts, in the Chittagong District of south-east Bangladesh about 13 kilometers north of Chittagong. The academy is situated on the slopes of the Sitakunda hill ranges and the shore of the Bay of Bengal.
Moeen Uddin Ahmed is a former Bangladesh Army general and the 12th Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army from 15 June 2005 to 15 June 2009 with last one-year extension during the caretaker government led by Fakhruddin Ahmed. He has worked in Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan as a Defence Attaché in the rank of brigadier, and previously served as a UN Peacekeeper in United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda as a colonel in 1995.
Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan SBP (BAR), psc is a retired Bangladeshi army officer who served as the Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army from 2012 to 2015. He took office of Army Chief at 25 June 2012 and retired on 25 June 2015. He joined Bangladesh Military Academy on 19 March 1976 and was commissioned on 30 November 1976 in the Infantry Regiment. Chitta Ranjan Dutta Bir Uttom, also known as C R Dutta, was a Bangladeshi war hero who served as major-general of the Bangladesh Army. He was a key sector commander of the Mukti Bahini during the Bangladesh Liberation War. After independence, he served as the armed forces commander in Rangpur and later went on to become the first director-general of the Bangladesh Rifles in 1973.

Earlier, he was Force Commander of the United Nations Mission for Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO). In the same mission, he served as deputy Force Commander, United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). Prior to join UNMISS, he served as GOC of 10th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army.

Brigadier Alam commanded two infantry battalions of the Bangladesh Army. He also served as the brigade commander of an infantry brigade. He commanded of the only para commando brigade of the Bangladesh Army. He served at DRC as the Northern Sector Commander of MONUSCO.
