Fanattic Sports Museum (FSM) is a sports museum dedicated to various types of sports and is located at Ecospace Business Park in Action Area - II of New Town, Kolkata, India. Established in January 2017, FSM is known as the first sports museum in Kolkata as well as in West Bengal.

Contents

It is an initiative by Prof. Boria Majumdar, an eminent historian, writer, commentator and journalist, in association with Harshavardhan Neotia, chairman of the Ambuja Neotia group, and consists of sports-related artefacts of various famous sports personalities.

St. Xavier's College is a private, Catholic, autonomous higher education college under Calcutta University run by the Calcutta Province of the Society of Jesus in Kolkata, India. It was founded by the Jesuits in 1860 and named after St. Francis Xavier, a Jesuit saint of the 16th century, who travelled to India. In 2006, it became the first autonomous college in West Bengal, India, and is affiliated to the University of Calcutta.

The Indian cricket team made its Test cricket debut in 1932 and has since advanced to be among the top four test teams in the in each of 2005 to 2008. The team won the ODI Cricket World Cup in 1983 and 2011. In other major International victories, Team India won the Twenty20 World Cup in 2007 and ICC Champions Trophy in 2002 and 2013.

The Indian cricket team toured England in the 1996 cricket season. They played a total of eighteen matches, including three Tests and three One Day Internationals (ODIs) against England. In the Tests and ODIs, India were captained by Mohammad Azharuddin, while Michael Atherton captained England.

The Australian cricket team toured India from February to April 2001 for a three-Test series and a five-match ODI series. The series is considered one of India's finest, as they secured victory against Australia in the Test series, in the process breaking Australia's 16-match win streak in Tests, and being the third side to win a Test match after being asked to follow-on during the match in Kolkata. The Kolkata match has been widely regarded as one of the greatest matches in the sport's history.

Subsequently, he expanded his field of work to become a published author, a cricket commentator on Star Sports, host of online shows, and anchor of national and international shows. He was the associate editor of Ananda Bazar Patrika in India. He handled both sports and entertainment for the publication. He joined Ananda Bazar Patrika in January 1983 as a trainee journalist with The Telegraph (Kolkata). From February 2017 to March 2022, Bhattacharya was the joint editor of the Bengali-language daily Sangbad Pratidin. As of April 2022, Bhattacharya is the editor of Zee 24 Ghanta, one of eastern India's most renowned TV channels.

The 2003 Cricket World Cup Final was a One Day International (ODI) match played on 23 March 2003 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. It marked the culmination of the 2003 Cricket World Cup, the eighth edition of the tournament. It was the first time these two teams had met at this stage of a World Cup. For defending champions Australia it was their fifth World Cup final, while for India it was the second after their 1983 victory. Australia won the match by 125 runs to claim the title for the third time.

Bishwanath Ghosh is an Indian writer, journalist and poet, best known for his literary travelogues which describe the real essence of India. His most recent book is Jiyo Banaras (2021), a collection of Hindi poems on Banaras. He is also the author of the bestselling Aimless in Banaras: Wanderings in India’s Holiest City, published in December 2019. In August 2017 he published Gazing at Neighbours: Travels Along the Line That Partitioned India, to coincide with seventy years of Partition of India. He is also the author of Longing, Belonging: An Outsider at Home in Calcutta (2014), which is a portrait of present-day Kolkata, and the acclaimed Tamarind City: Where Modern India Began (2012), which is a portrait of Madras, now known as Chennai. In 2009 he published the hugely popular Chai, Chai: Travels in Places Where You Stop but Never Get Off, which The Telegraph (Kolkata) called "a delightful travelogue with a difference" and which was subsequently translated into Hindi and Marathi.

Aryan Football Club is an Indian professional multi-sports club based in Kolkata, West Bengal, that competes in the Calcutta Football League. The club was founded in 1884 as Aryan Sports Club. It started playing football some years later, making it one of Asia's oldest football clubs. It plays home matches at the East Bengal-Aryan Ground.

The Indian national cricket team toured Pakistan during the 2003–04 cricket season. India played five One Day International and three Test matches against the Pakistan cricket team. The series was called the Samsung cup. India won the ODI series 3-2 and test series 2-1.

The South Africa national cricket team visited India in 2000 for a two-match Test series and a five-match ODI series. The Test teams were led by Hansie Cronje and Sachin Tendulkar respectively for South Africa and India, while the latter's ODI side was led by Sourav Ganguly. South Africa won the Test series 2–0, while India took the ODI series by a 3–2 margin. The ODI series was later marred by a dramatic match fixing scandal. It was the first time that a visiting Test team had won in India for thirteen years, and the last Test matches to be played by Cronje.

Boria Majumdar is an Indian sports journalist, sports historian and writer. He was the co-writer of Sachin Tendulkar's autobiography Playing it My Way. He is currently banned for 2 years by the Board of Control for Cricket in India for threatening cricketer Wriddhiman Saha.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mother's Wax Museum</span>

Mother's Wax Museum is a wax museum located in Action Area – II of New Town, Kolkata, India on the 5th and 6th floors of the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation building. Established in November 2014, it contains wax statues of more than 50 personalities, including statues of Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. The museum has been named after Mother Teresa.

Rohan Pate, a former U-19 Maharashtra cricket player, founded Blades of Glory Cricket Museum in Pune. Sachin Tendulkar formally inaugurated Blades of glory in 2012. The museum has over 51,000 cricket items, and more than 450 International Players have visited the place.
