Fayetteville Veterans Administration Hospital Historic District is a national historic district located at Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina. It encompasses 8 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, 1 contributing structure, and 1 contributing object on the medical center campus. They include the main building/outpatient clinic (1939), service building (1939), manager's quarters (1939), attendants’ quarters (1939), laundry building (1939), the flag pole (1939), and the attendants’ quarters (1939). Also located in the district is the separately listed Confederate Breastworks. [2]

Salem Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) is one of the largest VA hospitals located at 1970 Roanoke Blvd. Salem, Virginia 24153. Since 1934 VAMC in Salem has been improving the health of the men and women who have so proudly served the United States Navy, United States Army, United States Air Force, United States Coast Guard and United States Marines. Health care services have been provided to more than 112,500 veterans living in a 26-county area of southwestern Virginia. Salem VAMC provided community-based outpatient clinics. In addition to the main facility in Salem, there are affiliated services in three community-based outpatient clinics. These clinics are located in Danville, Hillsville, Lynchburg, and Tazewell, Virginia, Wythville.11

Canandaigua Veterans Hospital Historic District is a historic hospital and national historic district located at Canandaigua in Ontario County, New York. The district includes 29 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, and 4 contributing structures. They were built or utilized during the period 1931 to 1950. The Veterans Administration opened the facility in 1933, as a veteran's neuropsychiatric hospital. The original hospital buildings built in 1932, include the main building, kitchen / dining hall, acute building, continued treatment building, recreation building, laundry, warehouse, boiler plant, attendant's quarters, sewage pump house, garage, and gatehouse. The buildings are constructed of brick and feature crenellation, gabled parapets, half-timbering, steeply gabled roofs, and Tudor arches reflective of the Tudor Revival and Jacobethan Revival styles.

William Jennings Bryan Dorn Veterans Affairs Medical Center is a historic hospital complex and national historic district located at Columbia, South Carolina. The district encompasses 19 contributing buildings and a covered walk. Most of the oldest buildings are two- to three-story brick structures and feature a Georgian Colonial Revival architectural style. The original buildings date to 1932, with additional buildings completed in 1937, 1945, and 1946. A major expansion occurred in the 1970s. In 1978, President Jimmy Carter named the hospital after U.S. Representative from South Carolina, William Jennings Bryan Dorn. The complex includes the hospital, recreation, dining, and residential buildings. The complex is operated by the Veterans Health Administration.

Edenton Station, United States Fish and Fisheries Commission, formerly known as Edenton National Fish Hatchery, is a historic fish hatchery and national historic district located at Edenton, Chowan County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 17 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, 17 contributing structures, and 2 contributing objects. It was established in 1899 by the United States Fish and Fisheries Commission and operated by the federal government until 1954, then sold to private owners in 1961. The hatchery was operated by the Bureau of Fisheries. During the 1930s, the Public Works Administration and Works Progress Administration funded a number of building projects at the hatchery. Notable contributing resources include the Superintendent's House (1900), Fish Culturist's House (1938-1939), terrace (1899-1900), Pump House No. 1, Pump House No. 2, Water Tank (1929), 10 Fish Ponds, Flag Pole (1922-1923), and Daphnia Pools (1939-1940).

The district includes consists of a block of 14 brick row buildings dating between 1791 and 1916. The Liberty Point Store is the oldest structure and is a two-story, five bay, Federal style brick building.

The earliest extant residence is the Robert Strange Town House, home of Senator Robert Strange (1796-1854). Another notable building is the Highsmith Memorial Hospital, designed by architect Charles C. Hartmann and completed in 1926. Also located in the district is the separately listed Edgar Allan Poe House.

Confederate Breastworks United States historic place

Confederate Breastworks is a historic breastworks located at Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina. The earthen bunkers are located on the grounds of the Fayetteville Veterans Administration Hospital behind the main building. They were built in March 1865 as part of the fortification of Fayetteville by the Confederate army to protect the city against the oncoming forces led by General William Tecumseh Sherman.

Knoxville Veterans Administration Hospital Historic District United States historic place

Knoxville Veterans Administration Hospital Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Knoxville, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012. The first part of the property that was developed is a cemetery, which is located in the middle of the former VA golf course. It contains 40 plots. The State Industrial Home for the Blind was opened on the site of what would become the Veterans Administration Hospital on January 1, 1892. It remained in operation until April 30, 1900, when the last patient moved out. Two years later the facility was transformed into the State Hospital for Inebriates, which was a place of detention and treatment for males addicted to morphine, cocaine and other narcotics. Local citizens protested, and it was closed a few years later.

The district resources were developed between 1930 and 1951 by the Veterans Administration, and encompasses 15 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, 2 contributing structures and 5 contributing objects on the hospital campus. The main complex is connected by an enclosed corridor and consists of the main hospital building (1931), kitchen/mess hall/boiler house/attendants' quarters, general medical building (1939), and recreation building (1941). The buildings reflect the Colonial Revival and Classical Revival styles of architecture.
