Fazeley Town Hall, also known as Fazeley Parish Hall and originally Victoria Memorial Hall is the town hall of Fazeley in the Lichfield District of Staffordshire, England. It is located on Watling Street, in the centre of Fazeley town centre.
The town hall was built in 1898 by James Eadie, who was a brewer from Blackford, Scotland. [1] He moved to Fazeley in 1842, where is brother John Eadie lived and worked as a tea dealer. [2] James Eadie began supplying malt around the town and later expanded his business to the town of Burton upon Trent. [3] [4] In 1898, Eadie funded the building of the Victoria Memorial Hall in Fazeley as a tribute to Queen Victoria. [5] After completion of the hall, it was used for a variety of purposes such as silent films and lessons in history. The hall was later renamed to Fazeley Parish Hall and then Fazeley Town Hall.[ citation needed ]
Today, the town hall remains in use for civic duties by Fazeley Town Council. [6] The council made national history in 2012, when it elected the youngest mayor in the UK. Rebecca James, who was 21 years old at the time. [7]
