The General Certificate of Education (GCE) is a subject-specific family of academic qualifications that awarding bodies in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Crown dependencies and a few Commonwealth countries. Ever since the 20th century, the Scottish education system is different from those in the other countries of the United Kingdom.
The Higher School Certificate (HSC) is the credential awarded to secondary school students who successfully complete senior high school level studies in New South Wales and some ACT schools in Australia, as well as some international schools in Singapore, Malaysia, China, Papua New Guinea and Tonga. The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is an international dance teaching and examination board based in London, England. The registered educational charity, which was established on 25 July 1904 as the Imperial Society of Dance Teachers, provides training and examinations in a range of dance styles and certified dance teacher courses. The ISTD is recognised by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and the Council for Dance Education and Training and is also a member of the British Dance Council. The ABRSM is an examination board and registered charity based in the United Kingdom. ABRSM is one of five examination boards accredited by Ofqual to award graded exams and diploma qualifications in music within the UK's National Qualifications Framework. 'The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music' was established in 1889 and rebranded as ABRSM in 2009. The clarifying strapline "the exam board of the Royal Schools of Music" was introduced in 2012.

The Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) was a subject-specific qualification family awarded in both academic and vocational fields in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. CSE examinations were held in the years 1965 to 1987. This qualification should not be confused with the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education which is the school leaving qualification in India. Also, in some African and former British colonial countries there is a qualification named the Certificate of Secondary Education based on the original and former British variant. Also, the CSE should not be confused with the African qualification CSEE.

Australian and New Zealand Cultural Arts Limited (ANZCA) is a privately funded not-for-profit institution that assesses music in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. The organisation was developed to be an alternative to the AMEB, allowing contemporary as well as the traditional classical syllabus. They focus on both Practical and Theoretical components.

It was introduced in place of the School Certificate in 1951 as part of an educational reform alongside the more in-depth and academically rigorous A-level in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Those three jurisdictions replaced O Levels gradually with General Certificate of Secondary Education / GCSE and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams over time. The Scottish equivalent was the O-grade.

Neta Anne Maughan is an Australian piano teacher. She has made an outstanding contribution to music education in Australia. Her teaching career has spanned 63 years (2019) and in that time she has nurtured thousands of students in her main discipline of the piano, vocal, theory and accompaniment training. Her students are internationally recognised and hold professional positions throughout Europe, USA and Asia. As well as prizes in international competitions, her students have won every major competition held in Australia, and have performed in over 40 countries worldwide. Her teaching record is arguably one of the best ever achieved in this country, with 31 AMEB Shields won in her name. A record. Some of her most successful pupils are Michael Kieran Harvey, Bernadette Harvey, Neal Peres da Costa, Simon Tedeschi, Anthony Fogg, Damian Whitelley, Emily Jeffrey, Stephen Delaney, Kathryn Lambert, her own daughter Tamara Anna Cislowska, and the late Aaron McMillan, Marilyn Meier and Dennis Rees.
Sonny Chua was an Australian composer, pianist and music educator. From 2002 to 2007 he taught at Melbourne High School. Chua's contributions at Melbourne High are of broader notability in light of his development of the Mass Singing culture and his direction of the Chorale, which serves as a model for use of singing as a developmental and educational tool.
