An ambassador is an official envoy, especially a high-ranking diplomat who represents a state and is usually accredited to another sovereign state or to an international organization as the resident representative of their own government or sovereign or appointed for a special and often temporary diplomatic assignment. The word is also used informally for people who are known, without national appointment, to represent certain professions, activities, and fields of endeavor, such as sales.

She served as Ambassador of Colombia to Venezuela from 2009 to 2010 during the Colombia–Venezuela diplomatic crisis that led to both countries recalling their respective ambassadors and signalled a weakening of diplomatic relations between the two neighbouring nations. Before her appointment as ambassador, Chiappe worked as President of the Colombo-Venezuelan Chamber of Commerce, and had served as Banking Superabundant of Colombia and as Director of the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE).

Fabio Valencia Cossio is a Colombian lawyer and politician. A Conservative party leader and politician, Valencia was first elected to Congress in 1982 as Representative for the department of Antioquia, continuing to be re-elected until 1991 when he successfully ran for Senate, where he rose to national prominence and was elected President of the Senate in 1998. In 2001, President Andrés Pastrana Arango appointed him Ambassador of Colombia to Italy with dual accreditation to Greece, Malta, San Marino, Cyprus, and the United Nations' agencies in Rome. He also served as the 4th Minister of the Interior and Justice of Colombia during the second administration of President Álvaro Uribe Vélez.
Carlos Ignacio Urrea Arbeláez is the 10th and current Ambassador of Colombia to China. Before his diplomatic appointment he served in the private sector as President of Leonisa.
Eduardo Pizarro Leongómez is a Colombian sociologist and political analyst. He was a co-founder, former director, and professor of the Political Studies and Foreign Relations Institute of the National University of Colombia; he served as Presiding Member of the National Commission for Reparation and Reconciliation of Colombia, CNRR as a delegate of the Vice President of Colombia from 2005 to 2009; and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Trust Fund for Victims of the International Criminal Court. He also was the Ambassador of Colombia to the Netherlands in 2011.
Gustavo Adolfo Carvajal Sinisterra is a Colombian economist who served as the 24th Ambassador of Colombia to France. Carvajal has worked for more than 25 years in the public sector as President of Grupo Editorial Norma and President of Bico International SA.
Fernando Carrillo Flórez is a Pontifical Xavierian University educated lawyer and economist, with postgraduate studies from Harvard University. He served as Colombia's 11th Minister of the Interior from 2012 to 2013, and 55th Minister of Justice from 1991 to 1992.
