Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! was an indie rock group from Adelaide, South Australia. They describe their musical style as "monolithic tech-pop".[ citation needed ] They released the independent EPs You Seize the City, I'll Seize the Sky (2006) and Boy, Hush Yr Mouth, Grrl Bare Yr Teeth (2007), and full-length studio album Sea Priest (2010). In 2014, they announced that they had disbanded. [1]

History

2005-2009: Origins and early EPs

The band met and formed during their time at Adelaide High School, where Williams, Stearne, Flavel and Zinoviev attended. After meeting and rehearsing cover songs for most of 2005, the group purchased the necessary equipment to perform live, and began playing regular shows in local Adelaide venues. In 2006, Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! completed the independent EP You Seize the City, I'll Seize the Sky, and were invited to play Adelaide's Big Day Out. In early 2007, the band approached Caitlin Duff to take over from David as lead vocalist.

After performing at the Big Day Out and Parklife festivals, the band were placed in high rotation on Triple J radio, receiving considerable airplay. [2] [3] The band won a spot on the 2008 Homebake line-up thanks to Triple J's Unearthed competition [4] and was featured in Rip It Up Magazine as an Adelaide act set to make a play for national attention in 2009. [5]

Throughout the summer of 2009, the band performed once again at the Big Day Out festival in Adelaide, as well as the Adelaide Laneway Festival, and Come Together Festival in Sydney. In July/August 2009, Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! released the iTunes-only EP Animal Spirit Guide, touring across the country with Hungry Kids of Hungary and Tom Ugly.

Throughout 2009, the band played shows supporting the likes of Sia, The Bumblebeez, and Bertie Blackman, and were shortlisted as one of the ten finalists for the Qantas Spirit of Youth award. [6] In September 2009, Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! announced the addition of a second guitarist, Nathaniel Morse, to complement their line up, embarking on a short Australian east coast tour with I Heart Hiroshima.

2010- Debut album and touring

On 19 March 2010, Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! released their debut studioalbum Sea Priest through Dot Dash, alongside lead single "Little Cowboys, Bad Hombres". The song gained airplay with Australian youth radio stations Triple J and FBi. [7] They toured throughout May and June in support of the album, as well as playing opening support to Dappled Cities on their 'Winter Tour' with the John Steel Singers. Additional tours included St. Vincent, Band of Skulls and Kimbra.

In December 2012, the band released "Codebreaker".

They announced they had disbanded via Facebook in September 2014.

Fowler's Live Music Awards

The Fowler's Live Music Awards took place from 2012 to 2014 to "recognise success and achievement over the past 12 months [and] celebrate the great diversity of original live music" in South Australia. Since 2015 they're known as the South Australian Music Awards. [8]

Wolf & Cub

Wolf & Cub are a psychedelic rock band from Adelaide, Australia. Three of the original members hail from Port Augusta. The four-piece were signed to record label 4AD, which make use of two drummers. This allows the percussive elements of their music to feature more prominently alongside the guitar. Their name derives from a comic from Japan, "Lone Wolf and Cub". Wolf & Cub signed to Last Gang records in North America. Their third studio album, Heavy Weight, was released in 2013.

The Shiny Brights are an indie rock band from Adelaide, Australia. They rehearse in a warehouse full of washing machines which inspired the band name, deriven from a laundromat franchise in Adelaide called Shiny Brights.

26 (band)

26 is an Australian musical outfit founded in 2004 by friends Nick O'Donnell and Drew Fellows (keyboardist/vocals), who later recruited Ross Duckworth (bass/vocals) and Iain Wilson (drums/vocals). Originally categorised as indie rock, 26 has since employed a variety of guest artists and choirs to produce a sound that is unique to the band.

Will Stoker and the Embers

Will Stoker and the Embers are a band based in Perth, Western Australia fronted by singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Will Stoker. In 2007 they won the Western Australian final of the National Campus Band Competition and then went to Melbourne to win the national final. They have also received a public voted nomination for Favourite Newcomer at the West Australian Music Industry Association awards 2009. Guitarist Luke Dux and Bassist Ryan Dux also won industry voted awards for Best Guitarist and Best Bassist respectively.

Chance Waters Musical artist

Chance Dylan Waters, was an independent Australian hip hop artist and record producer. As Phatchance, Waters was a founder of the group, Natural Causes, in 2003 which issued an album, The Incidental Noise Demo, and toured nationally. The group disbanded later that year.

The Paper Scissors

The Paper Scissors were an Australian rock band that existed between 2005 and 2012. The last line-up consisted of Jai Pyne, Xavier Naughton and Ivan Lisyak. Their sound was described as "a combination of garage-punk, rock and soul". Australian music site Polaroids of Androids described them as "undoubtedly one of Sydney's finest bands of the past decade"

Pollyanna was an indie rock band that formed in Sydney, Australia in early 1992.

Numbers Radio are an Australian hard rock band formed in Brisbane, Queensland in 2008. The band is made up of Dave Orr (guitars-vocals) Robbie Carlyon (bass-vocals) and Mark Henman (drums). Numbers Radio first came to attention when they won a national youth radio competition, Triple J Unearthed, securing them a spot at Homebake and they received national airplay on Triple J. The band is well known for being extremely proficient musicians across a variety of genres including Blues, Funk, Jazz, and Ska Punk.

Bad Dreems Australian rock band

Bad Dreems are an "outsider rock" band from Adelaide, South Australia. The band was founded by Ben Marwe (vocals/guitar), Alex Cameron, James Bartold and Miles Wilson (drums). Guitarist Ali Wells was an auxiliary touring member for two years, before becoming an official member of the band in 2018. The band released their debut EP titled Badlands in August 2013 and have since released three albums. The band's debut album, Dogs at Bay, was released on 21 August 2015, produced by Australian producer Mark Opitz and received critical acclaim after debuting at number 33 on the ARIA charts. Bad Dreems' sophomore album Gutful debuted at number 23, after the success of the album's singles, "Mob Rule" and "Feeling Remains."
