Firouzophrynus is a genus of amphibians in the family Bufonidae found in parts of the Middle East and South Asia. [1] This genus was named in 2020 by Iranian herpetologists Barbod Safaei-Mahroo and Hanyeh Ghaffari in honor of Eskandar Firouz, founder of environment department in Iran, who died in 2020. Little is known about this species, but it is not considered threatened overall. Some local populations may be threatened by habitat loss from human activities or drought.

Historically they were included in the genus Bufo and then for a few years placed in Pseudepidalea, which is a synonym of the currently accepted name Bufotes.
