The First Shadow Cabinet of Antonis Samaras was formed in 2009. A reshuffle was made in 2011. Following the June 2012 Greek legislative election, the Cabinet of Antonis Samaras was formed. The Shadow Cabinet of Alexis Tsipras became the next Shadow Cabinet.

Formation

The Shadow Cabinet was formed in December 2009, following the 2009 Greek legislative election. There was a "radical" cabinet reshuffle in January 2011. The Shadow Cabinet was dissolved following the May 2012 Greek legislative election, as there was no official opposition to the Caretaker Cabinet of Panagiotis Pikrammenos. Following the ND-PASOK-DIMAR coalition after the June 2012 Greek legislative election, the Cabinet of Antonis Samaras was formed, and the Shadow Cabinet of Alexis Tsipras became the next Shadow Cabinet.

The Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a government agency of Greece. The Minister for Foreign Affairs controls the agency. The ministry has its headquarters in Athens.

The Ministry of Digital Governance is a government department of Greece. It was initially formed on 27 June 2011 as the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Electronic Governance. On 27 January 2015, it was merged with the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Public Order and Citizen Protection to form the Ministry of the Interior and Administrative Reorganization. It was revived as two distinct ministries on 5 November 2016: the Ministry of Administrative Reorganization and the Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media. The former was reabsorbed by the Ministry of the Interior on 9 July 2019, while the latter was renamed the Ministry of Digital Governance. The number of seats allocated to Greece declined from 22 to 21, as a result of the 2013 reapportionment of seats in the European Parliament.

The Cabinet of Antonis Samaras succeeded the Caretaker Cabinet of Panagiotis Pikrammenos after the repeated legislative elections in May and June 2012. It was sworn in on Thursday, 21 June 2012. The former ministries of Shipping, Tourism and Macedonia and Thrace were re-established. The junior coalition partners, PASOK and DIMAR, chose to take a limited role in the cabinet, preferring to be represented by party officials and independent technocrats instead of MPs. Vassilis Rapanos, the prime minister's first choice for finance minister, fell ill before being sworn in, and tendered his resignation on 25 June. Yannis Stournaras was then chosen as the new finance minister on 26 June, and sworn in on 5 July.

The Shadow Cabinet of Alexis Tsipras was formed on 3 July 2012, following the June 2012 Greek legislative election. It consisted of only Syriza MPs, as they were the largest party to refuse to participate in the ND-PASOK-DIMAR coalition. The Shadow Cabinet was dissolved following the January 2015 Greek legislative election, and was replaced by a New Democracy shadow cabinet led by Antonis Samaras. Tsipras subsequently formed the First Cabinet of Alexis Tsipras on 27 January 2015, formed from a coalition of both Syriza and the Independent Greeks.
