First State is a trance act fronted by the Dutch record producer Sander van der Waal, also known as Sander van Dien, [1] who has released three studio albums. Signed to Black Hole Recordings, they have performed internationally and work with vocalists such as Anita Kelsey, Neev Kennedy and Sarah Howells.
The duo made their debut in 2005 with a self-titled 12". [2] It was originally a duo consisting of Ralph Barendse and Sander van der Waal, who is also known by his alias Sander van Dien. [3] They released their first studio album, Time Frame in 2007. It features vocal contributions by Tiff Lacey, Anita Kelsey and Elliot Johns. [4] It was supported by the single, "Falling" that was featured on the In Search Of Sunrise compilation. [5] [6] It was followed by "Sierra Nevada" and "Your Own Way". [7] [8] In 2008, the mixed compilation, In Trance We Trust with James Brook, was released in Australia. [9] In January 2009, the duo released the single, "Off The Radar", [10] although Barendse left the project in May of that year. [11]
In 2010, van Dien released the second studio album, Changing Lanes, featuring vocal contributions by Sarah Howells, Kyler England and again Johns. [12] [13] The album was considered to be a stylistical change and explored other genres. [14]
In late 2011, South African DJ and producer Shane Halcon joined the project. In February 2012, they released their first single together "Reloaded". At the end of 2012, Shane Halcon left the project to make a solo career. In March 2014, the third studio album, Full Circle, was released where van Dien again worked with Howells and England, as well as Tyler Sherritt, Neev Kennedy, Jaren Cerf and Quilla. [15]
Besides using the name First State, van der Waal has also released under the name OneWorld [3] and Devoid. A number of co-productions have appeared with his South African manager Shane Halcon. [14]

Tijs Michiel Verwest, known professionally as Tiësto, is a Dutch DJ and music producer from Breda. He was voted "the Greatest DJ of All Time" by Mix magazine in a 2010/2011 poll amongst fans. In 2013, he was voted by DJ Mag readers as the "best DJ of the last 20 years". He is also regarded as the "Godfather of EDM" by many sources.

Anita Kelsey is an English singer and songwriter whose vocals and top lines are featured on many hit dance records and feature films. Her voice has appeared as backup vocals for artists such as Kings of Leon, the Good, the Bad & the Queen, Razorlight, Boy George and the Spice Girls, as the featured vocalist on big screen productions such as Dark City, and more recently as the singer and songwriter for a series of successful dance projects. Since 2009 she has worked as a cat behaviour consultant.
Magik is the title given to a trance mix-compilation series by Tiësto. The series, which has had seven installments starting in 1997 and ending in 2001, has been released by Tiësto on Black Hole Recordings. Tiësto released his own Artist Profile Series DJ Mix in 2000 with Magik Four: A New Adventure; Black Hole CD 07 is the only CD which is also released in the Artist Profile Series, after the four first Magik CDs were re-released in 2000 with new artwork. The sleeves on the first copies were replaced because of unauthorized use of Patrick Woodroffe's artwork.
Geert Huinink is a Dutch electronic music producer and classical composer. His compositions have been released under many different aliases. There is little published about him, but his name has surfaced around some influential and respected leaders in the Trance music scene. He has released tracks under Tiësto's name and has collaborated with artists like Cor Fijneman and Daniël Stewart. Geert has also produced for a Dutch television show called "Meiden van de Wit" in 2002. Game soundtrack composition is another forte of his.
"Lethal Industry" is a single which appeared in DJ Tiësto's first album. Before the album was created he released several singles to see what the popularity and the reaction of his audience would be towards these tracks. He first released "Lethal Industry" in 1999, only three copies were made, the track was cut by 777 Mastering and released in an Acetate 12" vinyl by VC Recordings in UK.
"Just Be" is a song by Tiësto, featuring British singer and songwriter Kirsty Hawkshaw.
"Suburban Train" / "Urban Train" is a double A-side single by DJ Tiësto, from his debut album In My Memory. "Suburban Train" was produced by DJ Tiësto and Kid Vicious. The vocal version, titled "Urban Train", contains vocals by Kirsty Hawkshaw written by Kirsty and Tom Greenwood. The "Armin van Buuren Mash-Up" is known officially as "Yet Another Suburban Train" or simply "Another Suburban Train". The original single was released with remixes from German DJ; Marc O'Tool and English group; Way Out West.
Magik Muzik is a sub-label of Dutch label Black Hole Recordings that was founded by Tiësto in 2001.
John O'Callaghan is an Irish musician and DJ, who mainly produces trance music. He also produces music under the aliases of Joint Operations Centre, Mannix, Henrik Zuberstein, and Stenna. He has collaborated with fellow Discover artists such as Bryan Kearney, Neal Scarborough, Thomas Bronzwaer, and Greg Downey as well as, more recently, trance hero Leon Bolier. His best-known tracks are "Exactly" with Bryan Kearney, "Big Sky", in collaboration with vocalist Audrey Gallagher, and "Find Yourself". Callaghan has received remixes by trance artists such as The Thrillseekers, Sean Tyas, Gareth Emery, Cosmic Gate, Markus Schulz and Indecent Noise. He has also worked with Heatbeat and Aly & Fila.
Andy Duguid is a German-Scottish DJ and producer. His best-known singles, "Don't Belong" and "Wasted", were included on Tiesto's in Search of Sunrise-series in 2007 and 2008.
"Imagination" is a 2008 song American musician Jes, who co-wrote the track with her partners from Motorcycle, Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden and co-produced it with Richard Robson. The track is featured on her 2007 debut studio album Disconnect and a chill-out version is on her 2008 compilation album Into the Dawn .
Sied van Riel is a Dutch trance music DJ and producer originally from Rotterdam but currently residing in Spijkenisse, Netherlands. He came into the scene in the year of 2006 with the production of his first track, "Fearless" and the following year was signed to the known label Spinnin Records. He also has a one-hour weekly radio show called Rielism that airs on Afterhours.fm every Monday.

Betsie Larkin is an American vocalist, songwriter and guest writer/vocalist based in San Francisco, California, United States. Her first EDM collaborations with Ferry Corsten, "Made of Love" and "Feel You", appeared on Corsten's album Twice in a Blue Moon. Soon after its release, the single "Made of Love" made the top 40 in the Netherlands. In 2008 it was voted the fifth track overall on Armin Van Buuren's radio program A State of Trance, number one on Above and Beyond Group Therapy Radio, and reached the number one position on Corsten's Countdown's 100th episode. "Made of Love" was the second single and the first vocal track to be released from the Twice In A Blue Moon album. There is also an official video. Larkin joined Corsten as his tour kicked off in Malaysia and has joined him for numerous shows all over the globe.
