Five Six Seven Eight, also known as 5678, is an Indian Tamil-language teen dance drama series directed by A. L. Vijay, Prasanna JK, and Mrudhula Sridharan and produced by A.L. Alagappan and Hitesh Thakkur, starring Ditya Bhande, Nagendra Prasad and Chinni Prakash. It follows the lives of gifted middle-class youngsters turned financially disadvantaged dancers who work hard to overcome difficulty and achieve their dreams. [2] It premiered on ZEE5 on 18 November 2022. [3]

In early 2022, ZEE5 announced a slate of eleven upcoming Tamil series and films, with Five Six Seven Eight being one of them, [4] [5] scheduled for a release on 18 November 2022. [6] The makers unveiled the first look posters through social media platforms [6] and the official teaser was released on 17 October 2022 which shows a conflict of sorts between two dance groups who come from different socio-economic backgrounds. [7]

Reception

A critic from Cinema Express wrote: "As a whole, the Five Six Seven Eight series has its heart in the right place." [8]

Nagendra Prasad is an Indian dance choreographer, actor and director who works in Tamil and Kannada films. He is the youngest son of dance master Mugur Sundar, and younger brother to popular cine artistes Prabhu Deva and Raju Sundaram.

Thuppakki ( transl. Gun) is a 2012 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by AR Murugadoss. Produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu of V Creations, the film stars Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal, with Sathyan, Vidyut Jammwal, Jayaram, Manobala and Zakir Hussain in supporting roles. It revolves around Jagadish, an intelligence officer in the Indian Army, who seeks to track down, destroy and deactivate a sleeper cell, after witnessing and barely escaping a bomb blast executed by the cell.

Vivek Harshan is an Indian film editor who works predominantly in Malayalam and Tamil films. He has frequently collaborated with Amal Neerad, M. Rajesh, and Karthik Subbaraj since the beginning of their careers. Big B (2007), Jigarthanda (2014), Iyobinte Pusthakam (2014), Iraivi (2016), Varathan (2018), and Bheeshma Parvam (2022) are some of his notable works. He won the National Film Award for Best Editing in 2014 for Jigarthanda.

In the film, a petty thief assumes the identity of his lookalike and attempts to lead a rebellion by farmers from the latter's village, Thanoothu, and helps them fight against an entrepreneur who exploited Thanoothu's water resources.

Mersal (transl. Zapped) is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Atlee and produced by Thenandal Studio Limited, in the studio's hundredth film production. The film stars Vijay in triple roles, alongside S. J. Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menen. Sathyaraj, Vadivelu, Hareesh Peradi, Kovai Sarala and Sathyan play supporting roles. It is the second out of the three collaboration between Vijay and Atlee, before they began working with others. The film follows two twin brothers who were separated at birth; Vetri, a vigilante magician who is against the medical crimes and Maaran, a reputed doctor who charges meagre amounts from his patients.

The film features music composed by Sam C. S. and cinematography by Nirav Shah. The film released on 24 August 2018 on the eve of Varalakshmi Vratam and based on the theme of goddess Lakshmi. Varisu ( transl. Heir) is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language action drama film directed by Vamshi Paidipally, who co-wrote the film with Hari, Ashishor Solomon and Vivek Velmurugan. Produced jointly by Dil Raju and Sirish under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations and PVP Cinema. The film stars an ensemble cast of Vijay, Rashmika Mandanna, R. Sarathkumar, Srikanth, Shaam, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Sangeetha, Samyuktha Shanmughanadhan, Nandini Rai, Yogi Babu, Ganesh Venkatraman, S. J. Suryah and Suman. It focuses on an entrepreneur's youngest son being named the chairman of his father's business, much to the dismay of his two brothers.

Mersal is the soundtrack of the 2017 Indian vigilante action film of the same name directed by Atlee, which stars Vijay in a triple role with Nithya Menen, Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha as the female leads. The film, which marked the 100th production of Thenandal Studio Limited, has a soundtrack album features four tracks composed by A. R. Rahman, in his first collaboration with Atlee and his third collaboration with Vijay after composing for Udhaya (2004) and Azhagiya Tamizh Magan (2007), whilst Vivek penned the lyrics for all the songs in the film's soundtrack, also in his first association with Rahman.

Produced by Happy Unicorn the series stars Prakash Raj in the lead role along with Sampath Raj, John Vijay, Arjunan, Mathew Varghese and Indraja. The series comprised eight episodes and was released on ZEE5 on 22 April 2022.

Trigger is an 2022 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by Sam Anton and produced by Prateek Chakravorty and Shruti Nallappa under the banner of Pramod Films and Miracle Movies. The film stars Atharvaa in the lead role, alongside Tanya Ravichandran, Arun Pandian, Rahul Dev Shetty, Munishkanth, Chinni Jayanth and Azhagam Perumal in supporting roles. The music was composed by Ghibran, while cinematography and editing were handled by Krishnan Vasant and Ruben.
