The 1920 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the VII Olympiad and commonly known as Antwerp 1920, were an international multi-sport event held in 1920 in Antwerp, Belgium.
Shooting at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal comprised seven events, all mixed. For the first time ever, a woman won an Olympic medal in shooting: Margaret Murdock caught the silver in the three positions event. Lanny Bassham and Murdock tied for the first place, but Murdock was placed second after review of the targets. Bassham suggested that two gold medals be given, and after this request was declined, asked Murdock to share the top step with him at the award ceremony. Women had no separate shooting events at the time and were allowed to compete with men. Murdock became the first woman to win an Olympic medal in shooting.

In 2004, he and Marko Kemppainen finished with 149 hits out of 150, but Kemppainen missed first in the shoot-off. Benelli also won the individual world title in 1987 and 1990, placing second in 1986, and third in 1999. In 1996 he set two world records at 125/125 and 150/150.
Anastasios "Tasos" Bountouris is a Greek sailor who competed at six Olympics between 1976 and 1996. He is the first Greek to compete at six Olympic Games, an achievement so far matched only by shooter Agathi Kassoumi.
Uwe Potteck is a German sports shooter and Olympic champion. He won gold medal in the 50 metre pistol at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montréal. At the Olympics in 1980 he placed 16th, and in 1988 he placed ninth. His brother, Jens Potteck, is also an Olympic shooter.
