Fleetlands is a heliport operated by Standard Aero located within Gosport, Hampshire, England.

History

In 1940 a Royal Naval Air Yard, RNAY Fleetlands, was opened here; it maintained naval fighters until helicopters became most popular within the Fleet Air Arm.

The control of Fleetlands was transferred to the newly formed Defence Aviation Repair Agency and the site became DARA Fleetlands which looked after all the helicopters within the British Armed Forces. During February 2008 the site was transferred to Vector Aerospace and renamed Fleetlands. Vector Aerospace has since been purchased by Standard Aero who now operate the site

Current use

The heliport is currently used by Standard Aero for use with their nearby maintenance, repair and overhaul facility.

Royal Naval Air Station Lee-on-Solent was one of the primary shore airfields of the Fleet Air Arm. First established as a seaplane base in 1917 during the First World War, it later became the main training establishment and administrative centre of the Fleet Air Arm. Situated near Lee-on-the-Solent in Hampshire, approximately four miles west of Portsmouth on the coast of the Solent at grid reference SU560019, the airfield closed for military use in 1996 and passed through several owners until 2014 when the current owners Fareham Borough Council bought the airfield and re-branded as Solent Airport. Bergen Heliport, Nygårdstangen was a heliport situated at Nygårdstangen on the shore of Store Lungegårdsvannet in Bergen, Norway. It was solely used for air ambulance services to Haukeland University Hospital. The heliport was owned and operated by Hordaland County Municipality, with helicopter services provided by Norsk Luftambulanse (NLA). The base opened in 1987 as a temporary facility. It was closed in 2002 and replaced by Bergen Heliport, Grønneviksøren.

The facility is alternately known as the Garland/DFW Heliport, Garland Heliport, or Garland/DFW Heliplex.

StandardAero is a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider based in Scottsdale, AZ. The company is not related to Standard Aircraft Corporation, which was formed in 1916 and ceased operations in 1931 as New Standard Aircraft Company.
