Flipsyde is an American rap rock group from Oakland, California.
Flipsyde currently consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Steve Knight, lead guitarist Dave Lopez, and rapper The Piper (Jinho Ferreira). Their 2005 debut album, We the People , was released by Interscope Records and featured the singles "Happy Birthday" and "Someday", with the latter chosen as a theme song by NBC for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games, [2] and appeared on the soundtrack for the 2008 film Never Back Down . [3]
Flipsyde's 2008 follow-up album, State of Survival, featured production by Akon [4] and a minor hit in "When It Was Good", but the record did not chart. The group was subsequently dropped by Interscope Records. Flipsyde released two EP's independently in 2011 and 2012. The group is currently working on a new project together.
Ferreira is a graduate of San Francisco State University and has written two unproduced screenplays, [5] one of which won a screenwriting prize at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2009. [6]
Ferreira discussed his experiences growing up, becoming a rapper, and choosing to become a cop to try to address racial injustice in From Oakland to Johannesburg: Can We Reform the Police?, [7] an episode of World Affairs.

Interscope Records is an American record label based in Santa Monica, California, owned by Universal Music Group through its Interscope Geffen A&M imprint. Founded in late 1990 by Jimmy Iovine and Ted Field as a $20 million joint venture with Atlantic Records of Warner Music Group and Interscope Communications, it differed from most record labels by letting A&R staff control decisions and allowing artists and producers full creative control. Interscope's first hit records arrived in under a year, and it achieved profitability in 1993. Chair and CEO until May 2014, Iovine was succeeded by John Janick.

Jermaine Alfred Denny, better known by his stage name Red Café, is a Guyanese-American rapper. He was first part of the short-lived hip hop group Da Franchise in the late 1990s, who signed with the company Violator and saw local success before his departure in 2001. We the People is the debut album by alternative hip-hop group Flipsyde, released by Interscope Records subsidiary Cherrytree on July 12, 2005.
The Album is the only studio album by American hip hop supergroup The Firm. It was released on October 21, 1997, by Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records. The project was created by rapper Nas, his manager Steve Stoute and producers Dr. Dre and Trackmasters, who came up with the idea of forming a hip hop supergroup. The original line-up included Nas, AZ, Foxy Brown and Cormega who were all featured on the song "Affirmative Action" from Nas' album It Was Written (1996). However, Cormega later left the group due to artistic differences between him and Nas, as well as contract disagreements with Stoute. He was replaced by Nature prior to recording of the album. The Album is a concept album that revolves around the themes of mafia and "gangsta" lifestyle. The songs on the album were mainly produced by Dr. Dre, Chris "The Glove" Taylor and Trackmasters, and feature guest vocals from Pretty Boy, Wizard, Canibus, Dawn Robinson, Noreaga and Half-a-Mill.
