Flostrand [2] is a village in Rana Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located along Norwegian County Road 17 on the northern bank of the Sjona fjord.

The district surrounding the inner part of the Sjona fjord originally belonged to Nesna Municipality. On 1 January 1964 this district (population: 543) was merged with the town of Mo i Rana, Nord-Rana Municipality, and the northern part of Sør-Rana Municipality to create the new Rana Municipality. Raudvatnet is a lake in Rana Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The European route E12 highway passes along the northern and eastern shores of the lake between the town of Mo i Rana and the border with Sweden. A Red cross hut is located east of the lake Raudvatnet. Water flows into the lake Raudvatnet primarily from the nearby lake Tverrvatnet to the south. From Raudvatnet, the water flows into the river Tverråga, a tributary to the main river Ranelva.

Folden is a former municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The 2,271-square-kilometre (877 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1887. Folden encompassed all of the areas surrounding the Folda fjord and all of the fjord branches that connect to the main fjord. It included all the areas in what is now Sørfold Municipality, plus the Kjerringøy area of Bodø Municipality, and the southeastern part of the Steigen Municipality. County Road 17, also known as the Coastal Highway, is a Norwegian highway that runs from the town of Bodø in Nordland county to the town of Steinkjer in Trøndelag county. It is 630 kilometres (390 mi) long and includes six ferry crossings. The road runs along the coast of Nordland and Trøndelag counties through 28 different municipalities. This road is a much more scenic, albeit longer and more time-consuming, route than the inland European Route E6 highway.

Stokkvågen is a village and ferry port located in Lurøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The village lies on the mainland coast of Lurøy, about 60 kilometres (37 mi) west of the town of Mo i Rana. The port has ferries that connect the mainland to the islands of Onøya, Lovund, Sleneset/Moflag, and Træna to the west and to the town of Sandnessjøen to the south. The village of Stokkvågen is located along Norwegian County Road 17, along the Sjona fjord.

Utskarpen is a village in Rana Municipality in Nordland county, Norway, about 37 kilometres (23 mi) west of the town of Mo i Rana. The village is located at the end of the Utskarpen fjord, an arm of the main Ranfjorden. On the western side of Utskarpen is the intersection with Norwegian County Road 17 and Norwegian County Road 12. The neighboring villages are Sjonbotn to the north and Myklebustad to the west.

Sjona is a fjord in Nordland county, Norway. The 26-kilometre (16 mi) fjord begins in Rana Municipality and flows to the west through Nesna Municipality and Lurøy Municipality into the sea. The islands of Handnesøya and Tomma lie at the mouth of the fjord. The deepest part of the fjord reaches 636 metres (2,087 ft) below sea level. Norwegian County Road 17 follows the entire coast of the fjord. Villages along the shore of the fjord include Flostrand, Mæla, and Myklebustad.

Nesna is the administrative centre of Nesna Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The village is located on a peninsula on the mainland of Norway, along the Nesnakroken strait, just north of the Ranfjorden and south of the Sjona fjord. The Norwegian County Road 17 crosses the Ranfjorden on a ferry which docks in the village before heading north along the coastline. Nesna has regular ferry connections to the nearby islands of Handnesøya, Hugla, and Tomma.
