The Fog City Rollers (FCR) is a roller derby league based in Saint John, New Brunswick. Founded in 2010, the league consists of two teams, which compete against teams from other leagues, and is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). [1]
Roller derby is a contact sport played by two teams of five members roller skating counter-clockwise around a track. Roller derby is played by approximately 1,250 amateur leagues worldwide, mostly inside the United States.
Saint John is the coastal port city of the Bay of Fundy in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. The port is Canada’s third largest port by tonnage with a cargo base that includes dry and liquid bulk, break bulk, containers, and cruise. In 2016, after more than 40 years of population decline, the city became the second most populous city in the province for the first time, with a population of 67,575 over an area of 315.82 square kilometres (121.94 sq mi). The Saint John metropolitan area covers a land area of 3,362.95 square kilometres (1,298.44 sq mi) across the Caledonia Highlands, with a population of 126,202. After the partitioning of the colony of Nova Scotia in 1784, the new colony of New Brunswick was thought to be named 'New Ireland' with the capital to be in Saint John before being vetoed by Britain's King George III. Saint John is the oldest incorporated city in Canada. During the reign of George III, the municipality was created by royal charter in 1785.
The Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is the international governing body for the sport of women's flat track roller derby, and association of leagues around the world. The organization was founded in April 2004 as the United Leagues Coalition (ULC), but was renamed in November 2005. It is registered in Raleigh, North Carolina as a 501(c)(6) business league organization, a type of nonprofit organization.
The league was founded in February 2010 by two women, Darla Derringer and Suzie Skinher. Their initial membership drive was successful, with more than forty women attending the first practice session. [2] These sessions initially took place at the Quispamsis Arena. [3]
In September 2012, Fog City hosted the Roller Derby Association of Canada's first Atlantic Canada Roller Derby Championship, taking second place in tournament, and qualifying for the following year's national championship. [4]
Fog City was accepted as a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice Program in April 2013. [5] Fog City became a full member of the WFTDA in September 2016. [6]

The London Rollergirls are founding members of the United Kingdom's national governing body of roller derby, United Kingdom Roller Derby Association (UKRDA), alongside other leagues within the UK. The league has three active travel teams which play competitive roller derby across the UK and the world: London Brawling (A), Brawl Saints (B), and Batter C Power (C). The LRG also have a recreational league; recruiting new-level or 'rookie' level skaters from the Greater London area.

Founded in April 2006, Forest City is one of the first flat-track roller derby leagues in Canada, and is a not for profit organization owned and operated by the skaters.
