Football Queensland North

Football Queensland North is a Football Queensland licensed zone which operates soccer competitions within the cities and shires of Townsville, Ingham, and Ayr. Junior competitions are regularly only inclusive of Townsville clubs, however Ayr and Ingham run their own junior programs.

Football Queensland North

Football Queensland North is responsible for running the North Queensland Premier League, and all other Junior and Senior competitions in the area. They are also responsible for all refereeing, coaching, and playing programs in the region. Most clubs offer both male and female football. Football Queensland North was formerly known as Townsville Football, and changed for governance purposes in 2018.

The 2020 Premiers Plate was won by Saints Eagles Souths, where they also went and won the grand final 4–2 over Mundingburra Aitkenvale Olympic. In 2021, MA Olympic won the grand final 3-1 over Brothers Townsville FC.

Other clubs from the region that do not participate in the NQ Premier League include Wulguru United, NQ Congo United and Northern Beaches FC.

In August 2021, it was announced that the NQ Premier League would transition to FQPL North.

There are over 8000 registered players across 36 senior clubs and 39 junior clubs in this division. The Northern Division is responsible for the historic Foley Shield competition that is held each year. Mid West and Mount Isa play in the Toyota Outback Carnival.

AFL Cairns is a semi-professional Australian rules football league that includes clubs from the Cairns region in Queensland, Australia. It is widely regarded as the strongest regional Australian rules football league in Queensland and has a large base at Cazalys Stadium which has staged Australian Football League matches.

Olympic FC Football club

Olympic Football Club is a semi-professional soccer club based in Brisbane, Queensland. The club was founded in 1967 and currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Queensland, with home matches played at Goodwin Park. The club has grown tremendously in the past 15 years growing from 190 registered players to over 855 players.

Glenn Hall (rugby league) Australian rugby league footballer

Glenn Hall is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer. He played for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, the South Sydney Rabbitohs, the Sydney Roosters, the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, with which he won the 2008 NRL premiership and 2009 World Club Challenge with and the North Queensland Cowboys in the National Rugby League, while also had a stint in the Super League with the Bradford Bulls. He primarily played as a second-row and prop.

Dean Schifilliti is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Primarily a hooker, Schifilliti played for the Illawarra Steelers, South Sydney Rabbitohs, North Queensland Cowboys, Adelaide Rams and Parramatta Eels throughout his career.

The history of the North Queensland Cowboys goes back to 1995 when they were admitted to the Australian Rugby League Premiership.

Northern Queensland United FC Football club

Northern Fury Football Club was an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in Townsville, Queensland. The club was founded in 2008 and competed in the A-League under the name North Queensland Fury. On 1 March 2011, the club was removed from the league due to financial instability. On 3 October 2012, the club officially re-formed after it was granted a licence to participate in the National Premier League Queensland. After rebranding themselves as "North Queensland United" in 2017, the club disbanded a second time at the end of the 2018 Football Queensland season. The club played their home fixtures at Townsville Sports Reserve.

Cairns FC Australian association football club

Cairns FC, previously known as FNQ FC Heat, was an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in the regional city of Cairns, in the far north of Queensland. Founded in 2012, the club was awarded a licence to compete in the National Premier Leagues Queensland in the 2018 season, with matches played from Barlow Park. The club relinquished their licence at the end of the 2018 due to financial issues.

Moreton Bay United FC Football club

The 2019 FFA Cup preliminary rounds were the qualifying competition to decide 21 of the 32 teams to take part in the 2019 FFA Cup Round of 32, along with the 10 A-League clubs and reigning National Premier Leagues champion, Campbelltown City. The preliminary rounds operated within a consistent national structure whereby club entry into the competition was staggered in each federation, with the winning clubs from Round 7 of the preliminary rounds in each member federation gaining entry into the Round of 32. FQPL Northern is the top association football league in the region of North Queensland. The current clubs are from Townsville, Ingham, and Ayr. Currently, FQPL Northern is in the fourth tier of football in Australia, the third tier of football in Queensland. The league is officially governed by Football Queensland North, and is overwatched by Football Queensland, the governing body for football in Queensland. The clubs compete in a regular season generally from april to september, and consist of a finals series.

Ingham Wolves FC Football club

Ingham Wolves FC is a semi-professional football club based in Ingham, Queensland in the North Queensland region. Ingham currently compete in the FQPL Northern league based in North Queensland. Ingham is the only team located in the Herbert River region of Queensland.
