The Fordham Rams women's basketball team represents Fordham University, located in the Bronx, New York, in NCAA Division I basketball competition. They currently compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Fordham began play in 1970. They joined the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 1981, playing in the conference until 1990 when they joined the Patriot League. They won the conference regular season and tournament titles in 1992 and repeated that sweep in 1994. They then joined the Atlantic-10 Conference in 1995 but struggled mightily until the arrival of Stephanie Gaitley as head coach. Despite recent success, as of the end of the 2018–19 season, the Rams only have an all-time record of 657–763. They have qualified into three NCAA tournaments: The 1994 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament, the 2014 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament and the 2019 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament. They also qualified into the 1979 AIAW National Large College Basketball Championship, a precursor to the NCAA Women's Tournament which did not begin until 1982. There Fordham advanced to the "Elite 8" of that 16 team national tournament but have yet to make it out of the first round of the NCAA tournament. More recently however, under Coach Gaitley, they have advanced into the WNIT's "Sweet 16" on two (2013 and 2018) occasions. [2] [3]

The Patriot League is a collegiate athletic conference comprising private institutions of higher education and two United States service academies based in the Northeastern United States. Except for the Ivy League, it is the most selective group of higher education institutions in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I and has a very high student-athlete graduation rate for both the NCAA graduation success rate and the federal graduation rate.
The 1991 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 64 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 14, 1991, and ended with the championship game on April 1 in Indianapolis, Indiana. A total of 63 games were played.
The Fordham Rams are the varsity sports teams for Fordham University. Their colors are maroon and white. The Fordham Rams are members of NCAA Division I and compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference for most sports. In football, the Rams play in the Patriot League of NCAA Division 1 Football Championship Subdivision. The University also supports a number of club sports, and a significant intramural sports program. The University's athletic booster clubs include the Sixth Man Club for basketball and the Afterguard for sailing.
The Lafayette Leopards represent the 23 Division I varsity athletic teams of Lafayette College and compete in the Patriot League. There are 11 men's teams, 11 women's teams, and one co-ed team. The club teams also compete as the Leopards. Though not a varsity sport, crew and ice hockey are very competitive at Lafayette and play in intercollegiate club leagues.
The Richmond Spiders represent the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. The Spiders compete in the Division I FCS of the National Collegiate Athletic Association as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference for most sports.
Stephanie Gaitley is an American basketball coach and the current head basketball coach of the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights women's basketball team. She has served as head basketball coach at Fordham University, Monmouth University, and Long Island University (LIU). During her six seasons at LIU, she posted a 95–82 record. In 2007, she guided LIU to a school record 22 wins, and the top overall seed in the NEC tournament. She was named the 2006–07 Northeast Conference (NEC) Women's Basketball Coach of the Year for her efforts. She led LIU to two 20-plus-win seasons, and the first WNIT appearance in school history.
The UCF Knights women's basketball team represents the University of Central Florida located in Orlando, Florida in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I and the Big 12 Conference. The Knights play their home games at Addition Financial Arena located on the university's main campus. Sytia Messer was named head coach on April 3, 2022.
The Portland State Vikings women's basketball team represents Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. The school's team competes in the Big Sky Conference, and plays its games in the Viking Pavilion, a 3,094-seat arena that opened for the 2018–19 season. Portland State are currently the defending conference tournament champions.
The 2013–14 Fordham Rams women's basketball team represented Fordham University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The team was coached by Stephanie Gaitley in her third year at the school. Fordham Rams home games were played at Rose Hill Gymnasium and the team was a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Rams finished with an 11-5 record in conference play and were the 3-seed going into the A-10 Tournament. The Rams emerged as conference tournament champions to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
The 2014–15 Fordham Rams women's basketball team represented Fordham University during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. Stephanie Gaitley served as head coach for a fourth consecutive season. The Rams were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference and played their home games at the Rose Hill Gymnasium. They finished the season 21–12, 11–5 in A-10 play to finish in fourth place. They advanced to the semifinals of the A-10 women's tournament where they lost to George Washington. They were invited to the Women's National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Central Connecticut in the first round before losing to St. John's in the second round.
The Dayton Flyers women's basketball team is the NCAA Division 1 basketball team that represents University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. The school's team currently competes in the Atlantic 10 Conference. They are currently coached by Tamika Williams-Jeter. The Flyers play their home games at University of Dayton Arena where the official capacity for basketball games is 13,435.
The Mercer Bears women's basketball team represents Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Southern Conference.
The Utah State Aggies women’s basketball team represents Utah State University in NCAA Division I competition. The Aggies compete in the Mountain West Conference. They play their home games at the Smith Spectrum. As of the end of the 2023–24 regular season, the Aggies have an all-time record of 234 wins and 440 losses.

The Rams were led by sixth-year head coach Stephanie Gaitley. They were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference and played their home games at the Rose Hill Gymnasium. They finished the season 22–12, 11–5 in A-10 play to finish in fifth place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the A-10 women's tournament, where they lost to Saint Louis. They were invited to the Women's National Invitation Tournament, where they defeated Georgetown in the first round before losing to Penn State in the second round.

The Rams were led by seventh-year head coach Stephanie Gaitley. They were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference and played their home games at the Rose Hill Gymnasium. They finished the season 24–10, 12–4 in A-10 play to finish in third place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the A-10 women's tournament, where they lost to Saint Joseph's. They received an at-large bid to the Women's National Invitation Tournament, where they defeated Harvard and Drexel in the first and second rounds before losing to Virginia Tech in the third round.
The Fordham–St. John's rivalry is an inter-conference rivalry between the Fordham Rams and the St. John's Red Storm who are both located in New York City: Fordham playing in The Bronx and St. John's playing in Queens. Conference-wise, the Rams play in the Atlantic 10 Conference, while the Red Storm play in the Big East Conference.
The 2018–19 Fordham Rams women's basketball team represented Fordham University during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Rams were led by eighth-year head coach Stephanie Gaitley. They were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) and played their home games at the Rose Hill Gymnasium. They finished the season 25–9, 13–3 in A-10 play, to win share the regular-season title with VCU. Fordham won the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament championship game over VCU, 62–47. They lost in the first round to Syracuse.

The Rams were led by ninth-year head coach Stephanie Gaitley. They were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) and played their home games at the Rose Hill Gymnasium. They finished the season 21–11, 11–5 in A-10 play. Fordham lost the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament championship game to VCU, 55–60.
