Forfeit Thee Untrue, also known as FTU, is a South African Christian metal band who formed in 2006. Remaining a 2-piece band until late 2011, at which point, lead vocalist/guitarist Gideon joined the band. Following their first studio-recorded track, 'Seven', they were offered a record deal by Sanctus Gladius Records, through which they released their debut EP, Blood Soaked Splinter (2013). After their recording contract lapsed with Sanctus Gladius Records they then signed with Rottweiler Records - their second international record label. Most recently, FTU released their debut full-length album, Cremationem Jesus Lacrimam (2016), through Rottweiler Records.

Background

The band originated in Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa, where they formed in 2006, with their current members being co-founder and drummer/percussionist, Craig Palmer, as well as current lead vocalist and guitarist, Kenny Smith, and guitarist, Corne Jansen Van Vuuren. Previous lead vocalist/guitarist, Gideon Karsten, left the band in October 2017, shortly followed by bassist, Eckard van tonder. Mid 2018 then saw guitarist/vocalist, Mitch Pearson, step down from the band. [3] Kenny joined the band officially in early 2018 as the new frontman, whereby he and Craig have been rebuilding the band. Corne Jansen Van Vuuren then joined FTU as the band's new and second guitarist in late 2019.[ citation needed ]

Music history

Their first release, Blood Soaked Splinter, an extended play, was released on 16 April 2013, by Sanctus Gladius Records. [4] [5] [6] The band are signed to Rottweiler Records, on 1 April 2016, they released, Cremationem Jesus Lacrimam, a studio album. [7] When asked what the translation of Cremationem Jesus Lacrimam was, guitarist Mitch Pearson answered "The Cremation of Jesus' Tears". [8] In 2017, both Karsten and Tonder departed from the band, with the band becoming a duo. [9] In early May 2018, the band introduced a new member to the lineup - Kenny Smith - as the band's new lead vocalist/guitarist. [9] [10] In late 2019, Corne Jansen van Vuuren joined the band on guitars, making FTU the 3-piece band that they remain to date.

Previously signed to Psycho Acoustix Records and currently to Sullen Records, an imprint of Open Grave Records, their music combines elements of black metal, death metal and thrash metal with keyboards and virtuosic vocals notable for "switching between about 10 different extreme styles within a given song." Their lyrics have achieved attention for their harsh output, providing a Biblical point of view for the regular, cruel themes of black metal music. The band is also controversial for using the typical corpse paint style often associated with the black metal visuals.

<i>Consign to Oblivion</i> 2005 studio album by Epica

Consign to Oblivion is the second studio album by Dutch symphonic metal band Epica, and was released in 2005. The song "Trois Vierges" features a guest appearance by then-Kamelot vocalist Roy Khan. The album's lyrics are inspired by the Maya civilization. The phrase "In lak' ech, hala ken” expresses the concept of unity of Mayan thought, after which the song "Another Me " was named. The CD was released with copy control on it. This CD started a new collection of songs, called "A New Age Dawns". This saga is continued on the album Design Your Universe.

<i>Prison of Desire</i> 2000 studio album by After Forever

Prison of Desire is the debut album by Dutch symphonic metal band After Forever. It was released on 21 April 2000 by Transmission Records. The album contains the first four installments of The Embrace That Smothers, a collection of songs by Mark Jansen which deals with the influence and distortion of religion in human society. This theme was carried over to the Epica albums The Phantom Agony and The Divine Conspiracy.

Behold the Kingdom was an American Christian metal and Christian hardcore band, and they primarily played deathcore, metalcore, and hardcore punk. They come from Sidney, Ohio. The band started making music in 2009, and their membership was lead vocalist, Josh Moon, lead guitarists, Riley Snyder and Derrik Young, bassist, Mark Baker, and drummer, Cliff Deweese. Their first studio album, The Eyes of the Wicked Will Fail, was released by Rottweiler Records, in 2011, which was the only album from the band, who disbanded in 2013.

Grave Robber is an American horror punk band from Fort Wayne, Indiana. The band started rehearsing in 2005. In 2006, Grave Robber released, a vinyl EP, Love Hurts independently. Their first two studio albums, Be Afraid and Inner Sanctum, were released by Retroactive Records, correspondingly in 2008 and 2009. The subsequent three studio albums, Exhumed, You're All Gonna Die!, and Escaping The Grave were released by Rottweiler Records, correspondingly in 2010, 2011, and 2018. An EP, Straight To Hell was released in 2014. Rottweiler Records has acquired the rights to Be Afraid and Inner Sanctum, with plans to re-release in 2023.

Every Knee Shall Bow is a Christian metal band that is currently independent. The band consists of brothers guitarists Drew and Cole, bassist Shane, and drummer DJ Wibblesman, as well as returning vocalist Chris Hull. The band's debut EP was mixed by Rocky Gray of Living Sacrifice, Evanescence, and Machina. The band was recommended in an interview with Gray and Jon Dunn of Soul Embraced about the local Arkansas metal scene. Their debut album was released on March 12, 2013. It was produced by Josh Barber.

Rottweiler Records is a Christian metal record label based out of Dallas, Texas, United States. The label features bands such as Lust Control, Soul Embraced, The Jericho Harlot, and Pantokrator. The label started early on as a label that served punk rock, but has become a label that serves metal and punk. It is a Christian label, and therefore many of its artists are as well. The label was created by Shawn Browning, also known as Wretched of Grave Robber. Many bands on the label have placed high on CMW's charts and have had many positive reviews. The label participates in several compilations, including Kill the Ill a benefit comp for Rottweiler's owner Shawn Browning, and Metal Pulse: A Tribute to Dale Huffman.

Skald in Veum are a Swedish unblack metal band. They have released one extended play, 1260 Days (2015), with Rottweiler Records and SkyBurnBlack Records and a studio album, Stridslysten, via Rottweiler in 2019.

Doomsday Hymn is a Brazilian Christian metal band, whose music incorporates metalcore, death metal, groove metal and thrash metal. They started making music together in 2013. They have released one studio album, Mene Tequel Ufarsim (2015), with Rottweiler Records.

Final Surrender are an Indian Christian metal band, who play metalcore, folk metal and progressive metal music. They started making music together in 2007. They have released two studio albums, Empty Graves (2013), and Nothing But Void (2017) with Rottweiler Records.

Aggelos are a Colombian Christian metal band that makes unblack metal, doom metal, gothic metal, death metal, symphonic metal, black metal, and neoclassical metal music. Northward is a hard rock duo composed of Dutch vocalist Floor Jansen of Nightwish and Norwegian guitarist Jørn Viggo Lofstad of Pagan's Mind. The two created the project in 2007, writing an entire album worth of music in 2008 but being unable to record it due to label issues and their busy schedules; they ultimately reunited in 2017 to finally record the album, which was released on October 19, 2018 by Nuclear Blast.

O, Majestic Winter, also stylized as O' Majestic Winter, is an experimental black metal project that originated out of Lewisburg, Tennessee, United States in the year 2008. The project was formed by Max Tubville and Corey Leverette, both of whom had performed in a hardcore punk band called Seventimesfallen prior to forming the band. The band has released four studio albums, two through Sullen Records and the third through Sanctus Gladius Records.

My Place Was Taken is a deathcore and hardcore punk band that originated out of Matamoros, Mexico. The band originated in 2014 and signed to Rottweiler Records in 2017.

XIII Minutes, also known as Thirteen Minutes, is an American groove metal and metalcore band that was formed in late 2015 out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The band is signed to Rottweiler Records.
