Frakull is a former municipality in the Fier County, western Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision of the municipality Fier. [1] The population at the 2011 census was 6,820. [2] One of the villages in the municipal unit is Frakull e Madhe.
Fier District was one of the was one of the 36 districts of Albania, which were dissolved in July 2000 and replaced by 12 counties. It had a population of 200,154 in 2001, and an area of 850 km2 (330 sq mi). It is in the south-west of the country, and its capital was the city of Fier. Its territory is now part of Fier County: the municipalities of Fier, Patos and Roskovec.
Fier is the seventh most populous city of the Republic of Albania and seat of Fier County and Fier Municipality. It is situated on the bank of Gjanica River in the Myzeqe Plain between the Seman in the north, the Vjosë in the south and the foothills of the Mallakastra Mountains in the southeast. Fier experiences a seasonal Mediterranean climate effected by its proximity to the Adriatic Sea in the west.
Fier County, officially the County of Fier, is a county in the Southern Region of the Republic of Albania. It is the eighth largest by area and the third most populous of the twelve counties, with more than 286,000 people within an area of 1,890 km2 (730 sq mi). The county borders on the Adriatic Sea to the west, the counties of Tirana to the north, Elbasan to the northeast, Berat to the east and Vlorë to the south, Gjirokastër Country to the sud east. It is divided into six municipalities, Fier, Divjakë, Lushnjë, Mallakastër, Patos and Roskovec, with all of whom incorporate forty-two administrative units.
Patos is a town and a municipality in the County of Fier, Albania. The municipality was formed at the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former municipalities Patos, Ruzhdie and Zharrëz, that became municipal units. The seat of the municipality is the town Patos. The total population is 22,959, in a total area of 82.59 km2. The population of the former municipality at the 2011 census was 15,397. It is the center of the oil industry in Albania, and is 7 kilometers southeast from the city of Fier.
Roskovec is a town and a municipality in Fier County, south-central Albania. The municipality was formed at the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former municipalities Kuman, Kurjan, Roskovec and Strum, that became municipal units. The seat of the municipality is the town of Roskovec. The total population is 21,742, in a total area of 118.08 km2. The population of the former municipality at the 2011 census was 4,975.
