Frank Walker is a Canadian electronic musician and DJ. [1] He is most noted for his single "Only When It Rains", a collaboration with Astrid S which was a Juno Award nominee for Dance Recording of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2020. [2]
The son of Canadian business executives Donald J. Walker and Belinda Stronach, [3] he was groomed by his family for a career with the family company, Magna International which was founded by his grandfather Frank Stronach. [4] He played a trombone while at a private school in King City, Ontario. [3]
As a teenager, he worked various jobs at Magna, including one year in the research and development department and at one of the Ontario plants. [3]
He began to pursue music as a hobby while studying business at Wilfrid Laurier University and cites one party for the university's rugby team as foundational. [3]
Following his graduation he decided to pursue music instead of stepping directly into a job with Magna, and released his debut EP Nocturnal in 2016. [5] He followed up with the EP 24 in 2017. [1]
The singles "Heartbreak Back", with Riley Biederer on vocals, and "Footprints", with Callum Stewart, followed in 2018, [5] and "Only When It Rains" was released in 2019.
On May 24, 2024, Walker released his debut studio album called Origin. The album has been described by Walker as a callback to progressive house and the golden era of electronic dance music of the 2010s.
In January 2024, he opened two Toronto dates on Madonna's The Celebration Tour. [6]
