Frauke Kreuter is a German sociologist and statistician. She is a professor of the Joint Program in Survey Methodology (JPSM) of the University of Maryland, College Park and a professor in statistics and data science at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany. Her research in survey methodology includes work on sampling error and observational error.
Kreuter earned a diploma in sociology from the University of Mannheim in 1996. She received her doctorate (Dr. rer. soc.) in 2001 from the University of Konstanz under the supervision of Rainer Schnell . After postdoctoral research and an adjunct position at the University of California, Los Angeles, she moved to Maryland in 2004 and joined JPSM as an assistant professor. From 2010 to 2014 she was University Professor of Statistics at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, while maintaining her position at Maryland as an associate professor. She also became head of the Statistical Methods Research Department at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg, Germany in 2010. In 2014 she was promoted to full professor at Maryland and moved her German position to the University of Mannheim. From 2016 to 2020, she was director of JPSM in Maryland.
She is the author or co-author of several books, including Data Analysis Using Stata (3rd ed., Stata Press, 2012, with Ulrich Kohler) [1] , Practical Tools for Designing and Weighting Survey Samples (Springer, 2013, with Richard Valliant and Jill Dever) [2] and Big Data and Social Science - Data Science Methods and Tools for Research and Practice (2nd ed., CRC Press, 2021, with Ian Foster, Rayid Ghani, Ron S. Jarmin, and Julia Lane). [3]
Kreuter was the 2013 winner of the Gertrude Cox Award, given jointly by the Washington Statistical Society and RTI International. [4] In 2014 she was elected as a Fellow of the American Statistical Association "for outstanding contributions to research in the field of survey methodology; for excellence in mentoring of junior researchers in social statistics and survey methodology; and for extensive international research collaborations." [5] She was awarded the Warren Mitofsky Innovators Award of the American Association for Public Opinion Research in 2020.

The paradata of a data set or survey are data about the process by which the data were collected. Paradata of a survey are usually "administrative data about the survey."
Phillip S. Kott is an American statistician. He has worked in the field of survey statistics since 1984, and is regarded as a leader in this field. His areas of expertise include survey sampling design, analysis of survey data, and calibration weighting, among other areas. He revolutionized sampling design and estimation strategies with the Agricultural Resource Management Survey, which uses survey information more efficiently. He has taught at George Mason University, and USDA Graduate School. He is currently an Associate Editor for the Journal of Official Statistics and the scientific journal Survey Methodology.
Rayid Ghani is a Distinguished Career Professor in the Machine Learning Department and the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. Previously, he was the director of the Center for Data Science and Public Policy, research associate professor in the department of computer science, and a senior fellow at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago. He was also the co-founder of Edgeflip, an analytics startup that grew out of the Obama 2012 Campaign, focused on social media products for non-profits, advocacy groups, and charities. Recently, it was announced that he will be leaving the University of Chicago and joining Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science and Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy.
The Joint Program in Survey Methodology was established at the University of Maryland, College Park in 1993, a collaboration between that University, the University of Michigan, and Westat. Today JPSM offers coursework on-site and online, offering MS and Ph.D. degrees, certificate programs, and short courses on the subjects of Survey Methodology, Survey Statistics, and Data Science.
Mary Elinore Thompson is a Canadian statistician. She is Distinguished Professor Emerita of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Waterloo, the former president of the Statistical Society of Canada, and the founding scientific director of the Canadian Statistical Sciences Institute. Her research interests include survey methodology and statistical sampling; she is also known for her work applying statistics to guide tobacco control policy.
Judith T. Lessler is an American statistician and expert on survey methodology, particularly on surveys relating to health and epidemiology.
Susan S. Ellenberg is an American statistician specializing in the design of clinical trials and in the safety of medical products. She is a professor of biostatistics, medical ethics and health policy in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She was the 1993 president of the Society for Clinical Trials and the 1999 President of the Eastern North American Region of the International Biometric Society.
Jana Lynn Asher is a statistician known for her work on human rights and sexual violence. She is an Associate Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at Slippery Rock University. She was a co-editor of the book Statistical Methods for Human Rights with David L. Banks and Fritz Scheuren.
Angela Dale is a British social scientist and statistician whose research has involved the secondary analysis of government survey data, and the study of women in the workforce. Formerly Deputy Director of the Social Statistics Research Unit of City, University of London, and Professor of Quantitative Research and Director of the Cathie Marsh Centre for Census and Survey Research at the University of Manchester, she is now a professor emerita at Manchester.
Maria-Pia Victoria-Feser is a Swiss statistician who develops methods for statistical inference with applications to research fields ranging from social, economics (econometrics) to experimental sciences (biostatistics). She has been a professor in the Geneva School of Economics and Management until 2023, part of the University of Geneva, and was the founding dean of the school. She is now a professor in the Department of Statistics, part of the University of Bologna.
Alyson Gabbard Wilson is an American statistician known for her work on Bayesian methods for reliability estimation and on military applications of statistics. She is a professor of statistics at North Carolina State University, where she is also Associate Vice Chancellor for National Security and Special Research Initiatives.
Amy Nicole Langville is an American mathematician and operations researcher, and is also a former star basketball player at the high school and college levels. One of the main topics in her research is ranking systems such as the PageRank system used by Google for ranking web pages. She has also applied her ranking expertise to basketball bracketology.
