Freddy Brazier (born 18 September 2004) is an English model and television personality. The son of Jeff Brazier and Jade Goody, he made appearances in his mother's reality series as child before beginning his modelling career in 2021. In 2024, he appeared on Celebrity Race Across the World . [1] [2]

Early life

Freddy Brazier was born on 18 September 2004 at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, Essex. [3] [4] [5] He is the youngest son of Jeff Brazier, a television presenter, and Jade Goody, a television personality who was known for appearing on the reality series Big Brother . [6] [7] [8] His older brother Bobby is an actor and model, known for his role as Freddie Slater in the BBC soap opera EastEnders . [9] [10] [11] Brazier and his brother are of English heritage on his father's side, while his mother was of Jamaican and English heritage. [12] [13] Their mother died on 22 March 2009 from cervical cancer. [14] [15] [16] Brazier and his brother did not attend Goody's funeral because of the high media attention. [17] Brazier was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) at the age of 10. [18]

Career

Brazier began appearing on television prior to his first birthday, with him and his brother appearing sporadically in their mother's Sky reality series Jade's Salon (2005). [19] They later went on to appear in occasional episodes of Goody's other series Just Jade (2006), Living With… Jade (2008) and Jade's Wedding (2009), and in the posthumous series Jade: A Year Without Her. Brazier began his modelling career in 2021, at the age of 16, after being was signed to Unsigned Group, the same modelling agency as his brother. [21] [22] He appeared in his first photoshoot with Hero magazine in June of that year, in which he was photographed by Yann Faucher. [23] [24]

Brazier made several appearances in the audience of Strictly Come Dancing when his brother was a contestant on the twenty-first series, as well as various video messages. [25] [26] [27] [28]

In 2024, Brazier took part in the second series of Celebrity Race Across the World with his father. [29] [30] [31] During the show, he spoke about the loss of his mother as well as living with ADHD. [32] [33] [34] Brazier said he hoped his time on the show would help him "find himself". [35] [36]

The Celebrity Big Brother racism controversy was a series of events related to incidents of racist behaviour by contestants on the fifth series of the British reality television show Celebrity Big Brother, broadcast on British television station Channel 4 in January 2007. The controversy centred on comments made by British contestants Jade Goody, Jackiey Budden, Danielle Lloyd, and Jo O'Meara, concerning Indian contestant Shilpa Shetty. The screening of these comments on UK television resulted in national and international media coverage, responses from the UK and Indian governments, and the show's suspension during the 2008 season.

Jade Changed My Life is a tribute special that aired on Sky Living which aired on the second anniversary of Jade Goody's death with interviews from family and friends and also how Goody helped raise awareness with interviews from various women who found out they had the same illness due to the awareness Goody made during her battle through media attention.

Freddie Slater is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by twins Alex and Tom Kilby from 2004 to 2006 and Bobby Brazier since 2022. Freddie is introduced as the son of Little Mo Mitchell, conceived after she is raped by Graham Foster, and makes his first appearance in episode 2826, broadcast on 1 November 2004. He departs with Little Mo in episode 3159, broadcast on 26 May 2006. Freddie's reintroduction was announced in July 2022, with Bobby Brazier taking over the role. Freddie returned in episode 6551, broadcast on 6 September 2022. The character departed on 5 October 2023, so Brazier could participate in the twenty-first series of Strictly Come Dancing. Freddie starred alongside his great-grandmother Mo Harris in a spin-off social media series named The Point of Mo Return before both characters returned to the main show on 20 May 2024.
