Copenhagen is the capital and most populous city of Denmark, with a population of around 1.4 million in the urban area, and more than 2 million in the wider Copenhagen metropolitan area. The city is on the islands of Zealand and Amager, separated from Malmö, Sweden, by the Øresund strait. The Øresund Bridge connects the two cities by rail and road.
Københavns Amt is a former county on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. It covered the municipalities in the metropolitan Copenhagen area, with the exception of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. Effective January 1, 2007, the county was abolished and merged into Region Hovedstaden.
Høje-Taastrup Kommune is a municipality in Region Hovedstaden on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 78 km² (30 mi²), and has a total population of 53,053. It was formed by the 1970 Danish Municipal Reform, and its 1974 adjustment, by merging the parish municipalities of Høje Taastrup, Sengeløse, the Fløng part of Hvedstrup-Fløng and the Reerslev part of Reerslev-Vindinge. Since 1 January 2006 the mayor of the municipality has been Michael Ziegler, a member of the Conservative People's Party political party.
Hvidovre Kommune is a municipality in Region Hovedstaden near Copenhagen on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 22 km2, and has a total population of 53,267. Its mayor is Anders Wolf Andresen, a member of the Green Left political party.
Frederiksberg Kommune is a municipality on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in Denmark. Part of the Capital Region of Denmark and the city of Copenhagen, it is surrounded by Copenhagen Municipality. The municipality, co-extensive with its seat, covers a total area of 8.71 km2 according to the Municipal Key Figures and has a population of 103,608 making it the smallest municipality in Denmark area-wise, the seventh most populous, and the most densely populated. Its mayor is Michael Vindfeldt from the Social Democrats serving from 1 January 2022.
The urban area of Copenhagen, lying mostly in the Capital Region of Denmark but also in Region Zealand, consist of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg municipalities and the former Copenhagen County. In all, it consists of 18 municipalities, and except parts of Ballerup, Greve, Ishøj, former Søllerød and former Værløse, mentioned with their population included from 2007. Ishøj and Greve Strand are included for the first time since 1999. As of 1 January 2022, this area had a population of 1,336,982. Statistics Denmark states that the definition of the urban area is based on UN's 200m definition.
The Capital Region was the administrative name of the municipalities of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg and the counties of Frederiksborg, Copenhagen, and Roskilde. It was replaced by the Capital Region of Denmark as an administrative region on January 1, 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform.
Rigshospitalet is the largest public district general hospital in Copenhagen, Rigshospitalet is the most highly specialised teaching hospital in Denmark. The hospital's main building is a 16-storey functionalist highrise, one of the tallest structures in the central parts of the city. Rigshospitalet neighbours the Panum Building which houses the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. As a teaching hospital it is part of the framework organisation Copenhagen University Hospital.
The Capital Region of Denmark is the easternmost administrative region of Denmark. The Capital Region is not to be confused with the Copenhagen Metropolitan Area or the Øresund Region.

The Copenhagen metropolitan area or Metropolitan Copenhagen is a large commuter belt surrounding Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. It includes Copenhagen Municipality, Frederiksberg and surrounding municipalities stretching westward across Zealand. It has a densely-populated core surrounded by suburban settlements.
Region Hovedstadens Psykiatri is a psychiatric hospital with centers spread all around the capital region of Denmark, mainly consisting of Copenhagen, northern Zealand, and Bornholm.
Bornholms Hospital is a hospital in the city of Rønne on the Danish island of Bornholm. Administratively, it falls under the domain of the Capital Region of Denmark along with hospitals in the greater Copenhagen area and northern Zealand. It serves a population of under 40,000 (2017) on Bornholm and Ertholmene. The hospital also physically hosts a mental health centre, which however falls administratively under the psychiatric hospital of Region Hovedstadens Psykiatri. Even before it became a part of the Capital Region of Denmark, some patients from the hospital were flown by helicopter to Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen Municipality.
Gentofte Hospital is located in Gentofte within Copenhagen in Denmark. Administratively, it is part of the hospital service of Region Hovedstaden. The hospital primarily serves the municipalities of Gentofte, Lyngby-Taarbæk, and Rudersdal, with a population of about 175,000.
Rigshospitalet Glostrup is located in the township of Glostrup 8 km from the center of Copenhagen in Denmark. It is owned and managed by the regional health authority of the Greater Copenhagen region, Region Hovedstaden. The hospital was formerly known as Glostrup Hospital, but after the merger with Rigshospitalet 1/1/2015, it is now known as Rigshospitalet Glostrup.
Hovedstadens Sygehusfællesskab (H:S) was a Danish health trust which was founded on 1 January 1995 to run health care services in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. There were five hospitals under its command.
Sankt Hans Hospital is a psychiatric hospital in Roskilde on the Danish island of Zealand, 30 km from Copenhagen. Although situated in the Zealand Region, it is owned by the Capital Region and serves patients from that region. The land was bought by the forerunner of Copenhagen Municipality at the beginning of the 1800s so it could relocate the municipality's psychiatric hospital to a more rural location. With a history beginning in 1620, the hospital now has 180 beds and offers specialized treatment in the areas of forensic psychiatry and dual diagnosis.
Frederiksberg Fire Station is one of several local fire stations operated by Copenhagen Fire Department in the Greater Copenhagen area. It is located on Howitzvej in Frederiksberg. The building is part of a larger complex which also comprises Frederiksberg Courthouse, Solbjerg Church and the former Frederiksberg Police Station.
