Frenchie Shore is a French reality television series broadcast on MTV France and Paramount+. It premiered on November 11, 2023, [1] [2] it is the French branch of the American show Jersey Shore . The show follows the daily lives of ten housemates who live together for several weeks. [3]

Production

In February 2022, Paramount Global announced a new line of unscripted series and renewals for MTV Entertainment Studios that included seven new versions of the Shore franchise. [4] [5]

The first season was confirmed on October 12, 2023. [6] The series was filmed in a house in the town of Cap d'Agde in Hérault, in the Occitania department, in the south of France. [7]

A second season of the show was ordered on May 1, 2024. [8] It premiered on MTV and Paramount on November 23, 2024. It includes four new cast members, including Enzo Hardouin, Foster Rowland, Guillaume Arab and Yamina. As the second season progressed, Patrick Amoros joined the cast. [a]

Controversy and criticism

In an interview with Le Parisien on 20 November 2023, Rima Abdul Malak, French Minister of Culture, criticises Frenchie Shore, explaining that the programme "borders on pornography" and is concerned about access to the programme by minors. [9]

On 13 December 2023, Roch-Olivier Maistre, president of Arcom, announced during a hearing in the French Senate that he had contacted the authorities of the Czech Republic and Germany, countries where the parent companies of Paramount+ and MTV France are located, to ensure compliance with current legislation. [10] He also specifies that Arcom has intervened on the main social networks to speed up the moderation of content accessible online. [11]

On 24 November 2023, the producer of the programme Arthur responds to the criticism by explaining that the format has existed for several years abroad and that in France it is not accessible to everyone, stressing the need for a paid subscription to access the content; “Frenchie Shore is as profitable as a Canal+ porn film on Saturday nights, although we are not at that level either”. [12]

Encore une chance (meaning Again a chance in French, full title Encore une chance: Les plus belles voix de la téléréalités is a French reality television show broadcast on French music television network NRJ 12 in January and February 2012, and comprising six shows with the first on 24 January 2012 and the finals on 27 February. The music competition gave a new chance to 32 contestants in various music competition shows in France that had failed to win in their bids giving them a new chance with two winners signing contracts with NRJ and given chances to record with established artist. Super Shore is a reality television series broadcast on MTV Spain and MTV Latin America, which follows the daily lives of nine young people who intend to spend the summer living together in different parts of southern Europe, starting on the Greek island of Mykonos and later in the Spanish city of Madrid. It is an adaptation of the American program Jersey Shore featuring participants from Gandía Shore and Acapulco Shore, the Spanish and Mexican versions of that series, along with Brazilian Igor Freitas of reality Are You the One? The tenth series of Warsaw Shore, a Polish television programme based in Warsaw, Poland was filmed in July 2018, and began airing on 21 October 2018. The series was filmed in Polish seaside town Łeba rather than Warsaw, making this the second series to be filmed here following the fourth series in 2015. The twentieth series of Warsaw Shore, a Polish television programme based in Warsaw, Poland was announced on September 29, 2023, and began airing on 17 March 2024. The series was filmed in between November and December 2023 mainly in Warsaw and also in Łódź. This is also the first series not to include Milena Łaszek, Michał Sarnowski and Przemysław "Sequento" Skulski after their departures the previous season. The series also featured the return of Jeremiasz "Jez" Szmigiel. Aussie Shore is an Australian reality television series that premiered on October 3, 2024, on Paramount+. It is the first Australian branch of the American show Jersey Shore. The show follows the daily lives of twelve housemates who live together for several weeks in Cairns, Queensland.
