Saxony-Anhalt is a state of Germany, bordering the states of Brandenburg, Saxony, Thuringia and Lower Saxony. It covers an area of 20,451.7 square kilometres (7,896.4 sq mi) and has a population of 2.17 million inhabitants, making it the 8th-largest state in Germany by area and the 11th-largest by population. Its capital and largest city is Magdeburg.

Hoym is a town and former municipality in the district of Salzlandkreis in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Since 15 July 2009, it is part of the town Seeland. Hoym is located on the river Selke, between the towns Aschersleben and Quedlinburg. One of the main features of the town is Schloss Hoym, which is used as a home for the mentally handicapped. Hoym is part of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Seeland, district Salzlandkreis. Olympian Burckhardt Hoppe was born here.

Seeland is a town in the Salzlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated northwest of Aschersleben. It was formed by the merger of the previously independent municipalities Friedrichsaue, Frose, Hoym, Nachterstedt and Schadeleben on 15 July 2009. Before this date, these municipalities cooperated in the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Seeland, which also contained the municipality Gatersleben. Gatersleben joined Seeland in September 2010.
Barby is a town in the Salzlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated on the left bank of the River Elbe, near the confluence with the Saale, approx. 25 km (16 mi) southeast of Magdeburg. Since an administrative reform of 1 January 2010 it comprises the former municipalities of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Elbe-Saale, except for Gnadau, that joined Barby in September 2010. The Barby Ferry, a reaction ferry across the Elbe, links Barby with Zerbst-Walternienburg.
Kreisreform Sachsen-Anhalt 2007 is a law in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany that came into effect on July 1, 2007, which outlines a reform of the districts of Saxony-Anhalt. It reduced the districts from 24 to 14. Nine new districts were created by amalgamating existing districts, while the rural districts of Altmarkkreis Salzwedel and Stendal as well as the urban districts of Halle and Magdeburg were untouched.
Börde is a district in Saxony-Anhalt in Germany. Its seat is the town Haldensleben. It takes its name from the natural region Magdeburg Börde. It is the site of the Morsleben radioactive waste repository. The disposal of waste into the facility ended in 1998.
