The Pitch thought that "neither Alessi nor Coltrane possesses compositional skills that equal their playing ability, so many of the tunes lack both melody and coherence." [5] The New Yorker wrote that the album "reveals the winning combination of a full-throated horn sound and a meditative demeanor." [9] The Indianapolis Star determined that "if this disc isn't up to the level of last year's Moving Pictures, it still shows that Coltrane's musical journey continues to carry formal integrity and sensuous allure." [10]
The Times concluded that Coltrane's "most distinctive work on this album is on soprano sax—the very instrument that his father helped to repopularise in the 1960s." [11] The Boston Globe praised the "evocative, thoughtful originals" and "distinctive arrangements of three jazz standards." [12]

Ravi Coltrane is an American jazz saxophonist. Co-owner of the record label RKM Music, he has produced pianist Luis Perdomo, guitarist David Gilmore, and trumpeter Ralph Alessi.
Giant Steps is a studio album by jazz musician John Coltrane. It was released in February 1960 through Atlantic Records. This was Coltrane's first album as leader for the label, with which he had signed a new contract the previous year. The record is regarded as one of the most influential jazz albums of all time. Many of its tracks have become practice templates for jazz saxophonists. In 2004, it was one of fifty recordings chosen that year by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry. It attained gold record status in 2018, having sold 500,000 copies.
Down Here is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Tracy Bonham, released on April 18, 2000, through Island Records. The album was recorded between March 1998 and December 1999 by Bonham and producers Mitchell Froom, Tchad Blake, Mark Endert and Don Gilmore. Andy Milne is a Canadian jazz pianist, who records and performs both as a solo artist and as the leader of the ensemble Dapp Theory. He was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and raised in Kincardine and Toronto. One of ten siblings, he studied music at York University, where he was a student of Oscar Peterson.
