Young Money Entertainment is an American record label founded by rapper Lil Wayne in 2005. The label was an imprint of Cash Money Records from its formation until 2018, thereafter operating as an imprint of its parent label, Republic Records. Wayne's longtime affiliate and rapper Mack Maine was appointed as the company's president in 2009.
Micheal Ray Stevenson, known professionally as Tyga, is an American rapper from Gardena, California. After a number of independent releases, he signed a recording contract with Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment, an imprint of Cash Money Records and Republic Records in 2008. His major label debut, Careless World: Rise of the Last King (2012) peaked at number four on the Billboard 200, received platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and saw generally positive reception. It spawned the successful singles "Rack City", "Faded", "Far Away", and "Still Got It". His third album, Hotel California (2013) saw trailing critical and commercial reception, along with his collaborative album with singer Chris Brown, Fan of a Fan: The Album (2015).
Peter Cory Pankey, Jr., better known by his stage name Cory Gunz, is an American rapper from The Bronx, New York City. He is best known for his guest appearance on Lil Wayne's 2010 single "6 Foot 7 Foot," which peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 and received septuple platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). That same year, he signed to Wayne's Young Money Entertainment, a then-imprint of Cash Money and Universal Republic Records, although he released no major albums under the label. In 2011, he starred and was the subject of the documentary series Son of a Gun, which was presented by his mentor and manager, Nick Cannon.
Careless World: Rise of the Last King is the second studio album by American rapper Tyga. It is his first album under a major label after his independent release, No Introduction. Production for the album took place during 2009 to 2011 and was handled by Jess Jackson, Arthur McArthur, Pharrell Williams, Boi-1da, and Noah "40" Shebib, among others. The album was released on February 21, 2012, on Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records, and Universal Republic Records. The album endured several release dates due to sampling credits, and experienced a limited release in retail stores due to an uncredited use of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I've Been to the Mountaintop", which was his last speech before he was assassinated on April 4th, 1968.
