Micheal Ray Stevenson, known professionally as Tyga, is an American rapper. After a number of independent releases, he signed a recording contract with Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment, an imprint of Cash Money Records and Republic Records in 2008. His major label debut, Careless World: Rise of the Last King (2012) peaked at number four on the Billboard 200, received platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and saw generally positive critical reception. It spawned the Billboard Hot 100-top 40 singles "Rack City" and "Faded". His third album, Hotel California (2013) was met with trailing critical and commercial response, along with his collaborative album, Fan of a Fan: The Album (2015) with singer Chris Brown.

The song is a slow, down-tempo R&B ballad featuring elements from the genres of house and pop music, while the song is lyrically about "breaking it off with a girl after failed attempts to make the relationship work". The song was originally recorded to be included on Brown's previous mixtape In My Zone (2010), but was later included on his fourth studio album F.A.M.E. (2011). Musically it has been described as an "R&B slow-jam", while lyrically the song explores sexual themes, with Brown encouraging a woman to come back to his apartment in the hope that she will "do it all night". "No BS" was written by Brown, Kevin McCall and produced by Tha Bizness. The song received comparisons to works by Jodeci and R. Kelly, for its similar musical direction.

Nicholas Matthew Balding, known professionally as Nic Nac, is an American record producer and songwriter from El Cerrito, California. He is best known for producing a string of successful hip hop singles during the mid-2010s, including "Loyal" for Chris Brown, "Do It Again" for Pia Mia, and DJ Khaled's "I'm the One" and "No Brainer". He began his career as part of the regional hip hop production group Go Dav in the early 2000s, and has since formed the similar musical group, Starting Six.

David Lewis "D.A." Doman, known professionally as D.A. Got That Dope, is an American record producer from Chicago, Illinois. He began his career in the mid-2000s working with Chicago underground artists such as Mikkey Halsted, Kidz in the Hall, and Bump J. He earned minor credits and handled drum programming for record producer J. R. Rotem for several years by 2011, after which he moved to Los Angeles to further pursue work in the music industry.

Mia recorded "Do It Again" in 2013, when she decided to sample J Boog's 2011 song "Let's Do It Again" after attending his concert in Guam. Brown and Tyga asked Mia to be included on the song when it was played in a studio session in 2014. It was written by Mia and Tyga alongside George Veikoso, Marc Griffin, and producer Nic Nac. "Do It Again" is a pop and R&B song, with a mix of hip hop and electronic dance music genres. The lyrics include references to Guamanian culture such as Two Lovers Point. Music critics described it as a "summer song".
