G. K. Mani is,as of 1998 [update] ,the honorary president of Pattali Makkal Katchi from 2022 [1] completing more than 25 years as president of PMK party. G.K. Mani's name was proposed by PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss during the party's general body meeting in 1998 for President's post in PMK. Later the same year,he was elected by votes for the PMK's President.
G. K. Mani,was born in Govindapadi Village,Kolathur,Salem District. He started his social life as teacher in Govt. Aided School. Later on he joined the Social Service Society (SSS),later this forum has been extended and formed as Vanniyar Sangam,founded by Dr. S. Ramadoss.
In 1984,G. K. Mani,was first one to be elected as Union Chairman for Kolathur,Salem Dt under the Vanniyar Sangam Banner. He is the first political representative from Vanniyar Sangam even before the PMK party was formed and currently a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly,Tamilnadu state Assembly elected from Pennagaram constituency in 2021 assembly election and three times from Pennagaram constituency,in 1996, [2] 2001,2021 and one time from Mettur Constituency in 2006.
He was teacher by profession and left his job and got involved in the Vanniyar reservation protest which happened during late 1980's and became an active leader in Vanniyar Sangam and which later extended to political party,Pattali Makkal Katchi. By his hard and tireless work,he became president of Pattali Makkal Katchi and completed his Silver Jubilee year's celebration.
Pattali Makkal Katchi is a political party in Tamil Nadu,India,founded by S. Ramadoss in 1989 for the Vanniyar caste in northern Tamil Nadu. It is a part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). It contests the elections with the "Ripe Mango" symbol.

The thirteenth legislative assembly election,of Tamil Nadu was held on 8 May 2006. It was held for all 234 constituencies to elect the government in the state for the following five years. The votes were counted three days later on 11 May 2006 and all the results were out by the end of the day. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led (DMK) front won the elections,with the DMK emerging as the single-largest party with 96 seats,and its leader,M Karunanidhi was sworn in as Chief Minister for a fifth and final term. This election marked the first time the state saw a hung assembly with no party gaining a majority of its own. As a result,DMK formed a minority government with its allies,which is the first in the state since the 1952 election. 13th Assembly was instituted due to this election.

The tenth legislative assembly election of Tamil Nadu was held on 15 June 1991. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) –Indian National Congress (INC) alliance won the elections in a landslide and AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa became the chief minister. This was her first term in office. The united strength of AIADMK,the alliance with the Congress,and the wave of public sympathy in the wake of Rajiv Gandhi assassination combined to produce a massive victory for the AIADMK. The DMK could only win 2 seats. This was the worst performance of the DMK since it entered electoral politics in the 1957.

By-elections to nine state assembly constituencies were held in Tamil Nadu,in four separate phases. The election for Thirumangalam was held on 9 January and for Bargur,Thondamuthur,Ilaiyangudi,Cumbum,and Srivaikuntam constituencies on 18 August. Also,the election took place for Vandavasi and Tiruchendur constituency on 19 December 2009 and finally for Pennagaram constituency on 27 March 2010. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) defeated All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in Thirumangalam in the first phase and kept the winning momentum in the following general election.
By-elections to Andipatti constituency was held in Tamil Nadu,India,on 21 February 2002. Three state assembly constituencies,Saidapet,Vaniyambadi,and Acharapakkam were held on 31 May 2002. In 2003,by-election in Sathankulam was held on 26 February 2003. During this by-election,the DMK and all the other major parties supported the Congress candidate,while only BJP supported the AIADMK candidate. This election came after the support of the Anti-conversion bill by AIADMK general secretary,Jayalalithaa and increasing tension between DMK and BJP due to the passage of the bill. The AIADMK win in Sathankulam was significant,since it completes the AIADMK sweep in by-elections after its victory in 2001. Also the anti-conversion bill was not an important factor in the congress-bastion Sathankulam,whose electorate consists of a large percentage of minorities.
T. Velmurugan is an Indian politician and Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly as a Pattali Makkal Katchi candidate from Panruti constituency in the 2001,and 2006 elections. He is considered to be a Tamil Nationalist. He is the founder of Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) party.
The Fourteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 13 April 2011 to elect members from 234 constituencies in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Results were released on 13 May 2011. Two major parties Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) faced the election as coalitions of multiple political parties:DMK front consisted of 8 parties and the AIADMK of 11 parties. Vijayakanth's Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK),which had contested the previous elections independently,allied with the AIADMK coalition. Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam boycotted the election following a disagreement with Jayalalithaa over seat-sharing. The outgoing Karunanidhi government was noted for the construction of new assembly building in Chennai,execution of various developmental projects,and implementation of programmes including free health care for the poor and issuance of a range of freebies such as color television to all. However,these were heavily overshadowed by other major issues such as incessant power cuts in households and industries,excessive sand mining,increasing prices of essential items,2G spectrum case and undue influence of Karunanidhi's extended family in various aspects of Tamil politics and business and even media.
M. Kalai Arasu is an Indian politician and was a member of the 14th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Anaicut constituency in Vellore District. He was elected as a candidate of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) party.
In the 2012 Dharmapuri violence,a Vanniyar caste mob set fire to about 268 Dalit houses in Natham,old and new Kondampatti and Annanagar Dalit colonies in Dharmapuri district,Tamil Nadu on 8 November 2012. The violence occurred after a Vanniyar girl from Sellankottai village,and a Dalit boy,from the neighbouring Dalit colony of Natham,fled due to parental opposition to get married. A caste panchayat held on the morning of 7 November by leaders from both communities ruled that the girl be returned to her family. Distraught at her decision to stay with her husband,her father allegedly committed suicide. The discovery of his body later that day is said to have provoked a 1,500-strong mob to rampage through Natham and two smaller Dalit settlements,Kondampatti and Anna Nagar,where it set ablaze over 200 houses,damaged at least 50 others,and allegedly looted valuables and cash worth lakhs of rupees. The mob rampaged for four hours and was brought under control after arrest of 90 men and an additional deployment of 1000 policemen.
The 2013 Marakkanam violence was an incident of violence in Tamil Nadu between Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and Dalit villagers in Marakkanam. The violence was instigated when drunk PMK cadres attacked Dalit villagers. The Dalit villagers blocked the road demanding their attackers be arrested which stopped the vehicle convoy taking PMK members to a youth festival organized by the Vanniyar Sangam at Mamallapuram. The PMK members attacked the Dalit colony and burned down nine huts of Dalits,they attacked homes of Muslims and offices of AIADMK MPs,they vandalized buses,felled trees among other things. In the ensuing violence,two PMK members were killed.
The 2019 Ponparappi violence happened on April 18,2019,during the polling day for the 2019 Indian general election in the village of Ponparappi,Tamil Nadu. The violence reportedly started as scuffles and agitations between the supporters of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the members of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) together with the members of Hindu Munnani,which reportedly led to violence by the members of the PMK on a Dalit colony. 60 to115 Dalit houses were damaged and Dalits were assaulted.
