Constituency

Before 2015, the constituency was in the Hunza-Nagar District. In 2015, when Hunza was made a separate district, GBA-6 was made its constituency.

Candidates

Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan of Pakistan Muslim League N for the session 2015-20. After appointment of Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan as Governor, the political seat of the constituency became empty. [1] His son Shah Salim Khan was elected in by elections of 2016. He was later disqualified by the honorable court being a bank defaulter in 2018. After disqualification of Shah Salim Khan the seat remained vacant till elections 2020.

Baba Jan (politician)

Baba Jan is a left-wing political activist in the Gilgit-Baltistan territory administered by Pakistan. He was sentenced to 71 years in jail by the Gilgit-Baltistani courts on charges of terrorism and of inciting public against the state during the Aliabad incident. Jan was released from jail on November 27, 2020 after the Gilgit-Baltistani government agreed to release all the 14 people due to a week-long Aliabad sit by the families of the incarcerated. He is the former vice-president and now member of the Federal Committee of Awami Workers Party.

Mir Wazir Baig is a Pakistani politician from Gilgit-Baltistan who served as the 1st speaker of the Gilgit Baltistan Assembly. He also served as the Governor of Gilgit Baltistan in 2010.

The 2015 Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections were held on 8 June 2015. Elections were held in 24 constituencies, each electing one member to the 2nd Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly. 269 candidates contested these elections, either representing one of the political parties of Gilgit-Baltistan or being an independent candidate.

Abaid Ullah Baig or Ubaidullah Baig is a Pakistani politician who is member of the Gilgit Baltistan Assembly. He is the Senior Minister in the Cabinet holding the Ministry of Trade, Industries and Labour.

Nawaz Khan Naji is a Pakistani politician who is member-elect of the Gilgit Baltistan Assembly. First nationalist leader to be part of GB assembly consecutively, three times (2012–16,2016–20,2020–24). He was born in a village, Sherqilla, in District Ghizer. He graduated in political science from Karachi University Sindh. He came back to GB and founded his own nationalist political party, Balawaristan National Front, on 28 December 1989. Naji is famous among educated youth especially studying in Down areas of Pakistan.

The Balawaristan National Front, more commonly known as the BNF, is a Pakistani political party of Gilgit-Baltistan. It was founded by Nawaz Khan Naji in 1989. The party calls for Gilgit-Baltistan to be given autonomy while still remaining a part of the federation of Pakistan.
