Gabrielle Smith (born October 24, 1994) is a Canadian rower from Unionville, Ontario. [1] [2]
At the 2019 World Rowing Championships, Smith along with partner Andrea Proske finished fourth in the women's double sculls, qualifying the boat for the 2020 Olympics.
Smith took part in the 2021 edition of The Boat Race as a member of the Oxford crew. She completed a MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management at Oxford, having previously studied at McGill University. [3]
In June 2021, Smith was named to Canada's 2020 Olympic team in the women's double sculls with partner Jessica Sevick. Andrea Proske, her partner from 2019, was instead named to the eights boat. [4] [5]
Emma Kimberley Twigg is a New Zealand rower. A single sculler, she was the 2014 world champion and won gold in her fourth Olympics in Tokyo in July 2021. Previous Olympic appearances were in 2008, 2012, and 2016. She has retired from rowing twice, first for master-level studies in Europe in 2015 and then after the 2016 Olympics, disappointed at having narrowly missed an Olympic medal for the second time. After two years off the water, she started training again in 2018 and won silver at the 2019 World Rowing Championships. Since her marriage in 2020, she has become an outspoken advocate for LGBT athletes. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, Twigg won gold in the woman's single scull. At the 2024 Summer Olympics, Twigg won Silver in the same event.
Carling Zeeman is a Canadian rower. She competed at several World cups, international events, along with the 2015 Pan American Games. Zeeman is a former world championships silver medallist in the women's quadruple sculls event. More recently she won gold in the women's single sculls at World Rowing Cup I regatta in Varese, Italy, and a silver at the 2017 World Rowing Cup 3 regatta in Lucerne Switzerland.
Lisa Roman is a Canadian rower. She was part of the team that won the silver medal in the Women's eight competition at the 2014 World Rowing Championships.
Brooke Francis is a New Zealand rower. She has twice won the world championship in the double scull alongside Olivia Loe, is the incumbent world champion, and won a silver medal in this class at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with rowing partner Hannah Osborne, followed by a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics with Lucy Spoors. Jessica Sevick is an Olympian and National Team Rower from Canada. Sevick was the Pan American Games Champion when she won gold in women's single sculls at the 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima. She studied neuroscience at the University of British Columbia where she competed on the UBC Thunderbirds rowing team.
