Gadra Road railway station is a railway station in Barmer district, Rajasthan, India. It used to serve the town of Gadra which is now in Sind province of Pakistan. The station consists of two platforms. The platforms are not well sheltered, and lack facilities including water and sanitation.Country's first railway shaeed smarak is situated in Gadra Road (Munabao) ,Badmer district of Rajasthan. [1] [2]

As the station and township of Gadra Road is close to the Pakistan border, it was subjected to shelling by the Pakistani army during the 1965 war. It's Memorials of indian railway victory.

Barmer District is a district in Rajasthan state of India. It is located in the western part of Rajasthan state forming a part of the Thar Desert. Barmer is the third largest district by area in Rajasthan and fifth largest district in India. Occupying an area of 28,387 km2. Being in the western part of the state, it includes a part of the Thar Desert. Jaisalmer is to the north of this district while Jalore is in its south. Pali and Jodhpur form its eastern border and it shares a border with Pakistan in the west. Partially being a desert, this district has a large variation in temperature. The Thar Express was an international passenger train that ran between the Bhagat Ki Kothi a suburban area of Jodhpur in the Indian State of Rajasthan and Karachi Cantonment of Karachi in the Pakistani Province of Sindh. The name of the train is derived from the Thar Desert a sub-continental desert, which lies in the north-western part of the Indian subcontinent and ranks 17th in the world covering an area of 200,000 km2 (77,000 sq mi).

Sind Mail was a passenger train that ran between Bombay and Karachi during the British era in British India. This train used to operate via Ahmedabad–Palanpur–Marwar–Pali–Jodhpur–Luni–Barmer–Munabao–Khokhrapar–Mirpur Khas–Hyderabad. After partition this train was cut short from Hyderabad in Pakistan to Jodhpur in India. This train ran till 1965 and was discontinued due to 1965 war. Today Thar Express operate on this route.

The Rajasthan Front was a military theatre of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The campaign saw the Pakistan Rangers, accompanied by the Hurs tribal warriors, raid and capture numerous Indian positions and fortifications along the border between Sindh and Rajasthan. The campaign was a success for Pakistan with 500-1200 square kilometers of Indian territory captured, comprising the bulk of Pakistan's territorial advances during the war.
